Very odd; no moderator action was ever requested, so I guess our Magic Moderator Bad-Post Sensor System (MMBPSS) is flagged inop?
 
Captain's post were entertaining, but, IMO, he was one of the biggest bullies in the Spin Zone.

Is that on the MEL?


I thought his issue was with the Spin Zone and Jesse specifically explained to him that the SZ is not moderated?

I just take unannounced hiatuses (hiatii?) If I did start a "I'm done with this place" thread I probably was drunk, just like Captain.

Reminds me of a joke:

Guy is at his wits' end - life has dealt him bad break after bad break, and he is financially devastated. Having been raised in a pious and sincere family, he is not inclined to seek divine intervention, but at last he must.

At times Captain was entertaining, but mostly just annoying.
Even his silly humor fell under "too much of a good thing", and it wasn't even all that good. And I can't recall a single serious or helpful aviation post of his. I'm sorry he felt like he had to leave, but I won't miss him. When he first started on POA, he proved himself a jerk when he jumped on Aunt Peggy for posting in a folder he deemed inappropriate.

Why should I hide my real name?

I am fairly new here and so far everyone has been very civil with me.

I am grateful for the effort some have gone to in order to answer my questions.

I am not a debate enthusiast; even as a spectator; so I have not been to the Spin Zone.
 
I visited SZ for a short while, but learned pretty quickly that it wasn't the part of PoA I wanted to participate in so I left.

I'll stick to the aviation related areas and wait for the next episode of 'As the Propeller Turns'

FUnny thing is that the person that O.P. fingered in his first post of the thread is NOT a Mod. O.P. seems to think he's a mod, but he's not. So O.P. has left a pile of poop in this thread & left the forum on the incorrect assumption of who is or is not a mod.

Sad and amusing at the same time.

For the record the following folks are mods: Spike, Mari, Greg, Jesse, Jason, AdamZ, and myself.

It's an "anything goes" forum.

Content involves two people calling each other Liberals and Conservatives (but uses other names). Also, blames Presidents, past and present, for everything from terrorism to toenail fungus.

It's a place you have to sign up for. We talk politics, current subjects with political leanings, and other hot topics. Its a fun release from the tensions of the day, unless you have thin skin and your opinion sucks. :nono:

It is a scary place where if you are not one of them, you get a big red target painted on you. So slowly you become one of them. Or you leave but then you find a thread that is interesting but then the Mods move it into the SZ so you go back and once again ask why you are there.

It is a horrible place. I keep removing myself but then a thread I am interested in gets moved there so I rejoin and then the cycle continues.

Nothing good happens there.
 
I don't know if anything said in the 1st post is true or not, but revealing personal information about someone is going too far, even for the SZ.

I've seen how taking things too far in a forum has had severe consequences in real life. There are some screwed up people on the net. Some of them get intense joy out of mining forums for details that they can use to screw with people.

It wouldn't be hard at all, once someone's name is revealed, to glean enough details about their life from old posts to find out who they are in real life. Then it's just a matter of a phone call to an HR department saying "Did you know that Captain Smith is a well known alcoholic?" and suddenly a man is defending his career because of accusations made by some faceless moron behind a computer screen.

I don't know him well enough to have an opinion on whether he's a good guy or not, but Captain has a solid point: fun in an internet forum ends where private details about one's life begins.
 
Speaking of signing up for, How does one get into the "babes and planes" forum?
I submitted my application.

I'd like to check it out. I am a big fan of planes even if there are babes in the way.

Babes and Airplanes was "Moxie's" gig - she is lost to us, flown west. :(

I am uncertain as to what has become (or will become) of the Babes and Airplanes forum.

The loss of any member of a community makes said community that much smaller and that much poorer. I mean that for everyone whether I agree with them or not. Heck, I even mean that for Ed.
