Gaston's update

Is Gastons planned for the same weekend as the "Casting for Recovery" group again. If not there may be some extra cabins on the approach end available.

Hey neat, maybe this year we can actually get the poker game on (I think last year was partially my fault we didn't get it going).

I'm ok, but I'm not expecting any victories. This going to be a cigar friendly event?

Nick,

What are we talking for stakes? 1$/2$ blinds? I will be smoking cigars, probably Fuente Hemingway's, and drinking some type of bourbon.

Yes, it is. There were still some of the large cabins available, last time I checked.

Absolutely

I am assuming we would play Texas Holdem as a cash game and not tournament style. What do we want to buy in at? Since is sounds like we will have some beginners we may want to have a friendly $20 buy in with the option to rebuy. With small blinds of $.10 and big blinds of $.25 Chips of .10, .25, .50, 1.00 and 2.00.

the cheaper you make it, the more likely you get all my money.

I might be up to this. I've played only once, though, so I may as well just write a check at the beginning and hand it over! :)

true kent.

in recent news, im now taking donations to help pay for my groceries and inevitable poker bill at Gastons.

OK, as long as:

1.) Maybe some help for newbies for the first couple of hands, and...

2.) Don't wait intil 10:30pm to start the game and wonder why people have wandered off...(Hey Ed!)

Yeah, no ****. I went out and bought two brand new poker chip sets just for Gaston's, and then all the people that said "Oh yeah, I'm in," were no where to be seen.

I already own mine so no possibility of wasted expense on my part.

I will bring some sheets that show worst to best hands for the newbie's.

Im just saying, don't expect anyone to play.

We should put poker night, movie night, BBQ night on the calendar on the Wiki to avoid conflicts and midnight sessions.

I can see it now, Gastons goes from a weekend event to a week long event, with exciting events each night...

oshkosh started as a gathering of a few friends...

Poker? Is this a card game? If someone teaches me, I'll play.

Psssstttt! Just a caution - I saw eyeshades and membership card from the World Poker Tour in the back seat of the Tiger ... I think he just might be bluffing? :dunno:

This smells only slightly better than wanting to buy a Tahoe.

Why Bill, I have absolutely no ideas what you are talking about. And for the record, yes I do want a Tahoe. :)

Anyway real men play sheepshead ... :)

YEAH!!! I'm in! I wonder if there are even any other real men on the board who know how to play. :D

For those who don't know it, we can teach you, but be forewarned that the game makes a lot more sense when you're very very drunk.

And it is a card game. 32 cards (sevens up through aces of all four suits.)

And from there it gets MUCH more complicated.
 OK, that is where I would probably wander out the door and walk along the river absorbing the sights, sounds and smells of the night fog over the river. And then wander out to the airplanes sitting there at night. It's actually pretty cool being out there with them at night. Well, unless you're frantically looking for your cell phone that you left in someone's airplane or dropped in the grass somewhere while several people have been trying to contact you about various things.

Boy, you absent the board for awhile, come back and the first post you read is about naked women at Gaston's and getting a room!

This fly in is getting better every year!

I'm too stupid to play. I'd rather walk around and look at airplanes while I eat Tony's cookies.
