Way to go Skyvector. You just made your website a complete pile of ****.

At least it seems slower. So there's that.

What changed? I cant notice a speed reduction at work because the computers here typically cant handle a browser and MS Calculator at the same time anyway

Seems to be working ok to me. Maybe a bit more descriptive than 'pile of ****'?

The new data entry is a mess.
Trying to type in 3 or more waypoints seems to be a challenge.

I just entered departure and destination then typed out the route in the big space, works. :dunno:

I just typed in: KCPT KINJ KTPL KEDC 3T5 in the routes field and it worked fine for me.

<edit; Just tried the same thing rubber banding and worked fine too>

I haven't been to that site since they got down on their knees and wiped off their chin for FlightPrep.

It seems a little finicky, but overall works.

Not sure why they changed it though. It's like they are trying to upgrade to more complex flight planning ala ForeFlight or Fltplan.com which is slightly annoying. SkyVector has always been something I used for quick big picture future route planning. Not the kind of thing I use for detailed stuff.

for some reason anytime I enter an airport, it just disappears from the box

The only way I can get anything in that box is to rubber band the pink line

Works fine for me. Nice to have the option to file through Skyvector now instead of blasted AOPA FlyQ!

Then if I type anything, what I banded goes away

Firefox btw

Edit: That seems to be the problem.
Working in IE of all things.

X2

I liked the simple planning tool it used to have. I'm not going to use the complicated flight planner... I have foreflight for that.

Doesn't seem right that it requires you to watch an hour of gay porn before you can create an account either.

Java bug. Almost certainly.

Chrome here, V 43.0.2357.134 m

I think that's just personal preference.

I emailed SV and got an email back, and he did say there was a bug, but the missing route log on the map screen isn't a bug, it was a deliberate removal.

I usually use Firefox, but lately I have gotten to the point that when anything starts acting really weird, the first thing I do is try a different browser. I suspect I will soon abandon Firefox as my primary browser. But Chrome and IE have their own problems too, so I am frequently trying different browsers to get things done and I usually tend to stay with the last one that worked, until it doesn't work any more.

No, it's based on them checking your browsing history before offering you a membership. They want to know what 'floats your boat' so to speak, and customize the offering based on where you've been, what you click on, etc.

That still comes off as personal preference. It's individually targeted ads. So Bryan, maybe lay off the gay porn for a while. It should help clear up. Probably make the whole married to woman thing work a little better too.

good.....so, it's nothing personal.

It's different but seems to work for me in Chrome. I just typed my waypoints into the route box then hit enter...

Okay no wait, you're right this thing is completely hosed :mad2:

How to remove a Waypoint?

Hover mouse over waypoint, one left click, chooser box appears, bottom option is "delete waypoint" with the intl symbol for 'do not enter' shown, click "DEL" radio button on bottom of list of choices.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I am NOT a fan of being forced to learn a new user interface. Give people the choice between the old one and the new one.

I would guess that this is the first step toward it becoming a subscription based website.

Absolutely. Why f*** up something that worked well? It's all marketing, trying to add "cool" features and failing miserably when users see "you do not have javascript enabled". Idiots, "my JS is enabled and worked d*mn well before you hosed it, you losers!" :)

I rarely used SV before (limited capabilities) so I am not sad. But it is good to know how they operate. I will stick with VFRmaps and AirNav, they are much better and work in most browsers.
