Update so you don't have to read the entire thread.
We have determined a need for a POA fly-in out to the east so more POAers can meet more POAers. Looks like the location that has been

Where: M34 - Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park.
    When: 4/26-29

Now what should it be called?

That's the synopsis so far. Read the decision making process below if you are up for that kind of torture.

Campsites right off the air field
As well as golfing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, fishing, and food

@eman1200 and I were chatting on facebook and realized we will likely never meet. He seemed really happy about that but I was a little "hmmm, I'd like to meet ye ole man of E"

So splitting the difference between he and I would be somewhere in the Memphis region.

I know this is POA so the responses will be all "Upstate NY has this great little strip" or "they have great Lobster at this airport in Maine" but lets say put a 100 mile ring around this more memphisy location and are there folks with some level of familiarity of that area that would be able to make a recommendation?

Based on the few POA fly-ins I have attended what appears to be critical are either cabins on site or the option of camping. Grass strip with a paved strip very close by. An area where a large group of people can sit, eat, drink and drink.

So first and most important are recommendations for a location and some supporting criteria as to why this location would be good.

2nd would be what time of year would be good? During 6Y9 or Gastons would not be ideal.
It seems folks prefer cooler temps (fall or spring has those).

Lastly who might be willing to participate in a yearly fly-in of this nature in this general location?

Oh and what should it be called?
    Here are Some potential names:

    Anagrams of "Memphis POA":
The Same Ho Pimp fly in
The Soap Pie Hmm fly in
The Ash Pipe Mom fly in

    Anagrams of "memphis fly in"
    Flimsy Hip Men
    She film my nip
    Me Fly Him Spin

    Anagrams of "eman sixpapacharlie"
    A Camelhair Apex Nips
A chair as a Mex Nipple
    A Chaplain Sax Empire
    A Chaplains Ape Remix
    A Maniac Axle Shipper
    Cram Anal Hepa Pixies
    Cram A Lean Sax Hippie
    I pix a seaplane march

I was going to say Israel, but I now see you've confined it to the US of A.

Are there any rednecks (@mscard88) in Alabama that might allow a meetup at their home drome? Thataway it would be more centrally located.

I was gonna say I can't even reach Europe, much less the Middle East . . . But Tennessee is doable. I'm following for location, as I'm much more than 100nm from Memphis. How far is Gastons from there?

My tiny field has ramp space and may permit camping.

and dayum, I can't figure out which anagram I like best. you'd think anything with 'ho' AND 'pimp' in the same one would be a clear winner........but I kinda like 'a maniac axle shipper' because aren't all axle shippers kinda crazy?

There might be some nice places in Ar Kansas. Little Rock (Conway) is pretty but there aint much to do. I vote "Memphisy" area, but outside of that, I am not much help.

I'd be interested in somewhere within a couple hundred miles of KHSV. Put it on a pretty weekend, I'd go.

I might be able to make it. Would need a little luck with schedule and weather.

French Lick (KFRH) is probably too far north but a great destination. The resort will provide free transportation. Just radio unicom and ask for transportation and a car will be waiting for you on the ramp.

using geomidpoint.com and Dallas, tx; Atlanta, ga; Minneapolis, mn; and Boston, ma as the corners, we get Bedford, IN. (southern Indiana)

seems like anywhere from Louisville, to Memphis would work out to be the middle for the eastern 1/2ish of the US.

now let's find a nice place to destro....err visit around there

If you're interested in Airplane history, there are plethora of airfields around Dayton/Wright-Patterson AFB and the National Museum of the USAF and other Aviation sites. The WACO Museum is nearby as well as the Wright B Flyer at KMGY.

Of course, Tullahoma and the Jack Daniels facility might top anything.

    Cheers

    You suck at geometry. ;)

That is no where near a point between 6PC and eman. And the only reason I bring that up is that although we have yet to meet, I'm in the same general locale as eman.

How about The Hempism Fly in.

    If interested in gaming:
French Lick has a casino, but they closed the poker room so I no longer go.
Evansville (KEVV) also has a casino which I believe may pick you up at the airport. They do have a poker room, and some decent entertainment.
Paducah (PAH) has a casino, no poker room.
Tunica (close to Memphis) has a few casinos and probably best overall casino experience.

    If interested in Hemp:
    Stop over in KY

With eman in the picture, you'll most likely be interested in boobs, so find the best strip club review and head wherever that is.

As someone who both knows @eman1200 and has flown with him (he will make videos and put them on POA. Surprisingly does a really good job), be careful what you wish for....

Joking aside, he is really good ****. I would be in for sure, then again it would have to fall on a weekend between Valentines day and Thanksgiving...and really not in the month of December, sooooo...Thursday's anyone?
