What did you do today?

Unswallowed my lunch.... 11 trips to pray to the porcelain god.

Painted an exterior door, while cooking a pork shoulder and keeping the dogs away from the electricians who are working on our master bathroom remodel.

My wife is concerned that there will be brush marks on the doors. I'm about ready to give her the project.

:yeahthat:

Recommended answer: "Yes, dear, you're absolutely right. I'm going out to pick up a spray gun and a compressor. Anything you need while I'm out?"

I really don't want to spray them, they swing into the house, they're heavy steel and glass doors and I don't have anyone here to help me carry them.

I was cruisin' down route 66 today, going by the airport when I felt a thump, thump, thump, thump in my chest.

I was getting close to turning around to head to the hospital when I realized I was hearing the thumping in my chest.

Then I saw the Huey flying over.

Cancel the call to 911...

You didn't go back to a place the next day after telling them they ripped you off a dollar the day before, did you?

First time I had food poisoning was in college, and the doc just asked one question - where was the last time you ate chicken? And that was it.

The second two times, over the course of 40 years, were two different chain restaurants and soup...and I should've known better each time.

Hope you feel better.

Fairly certain it was a Caesar salad...with chicken. Romaine lettuce or chicken. Pick your poison

What I get for eating better.

Dry white toast for dinner.

I thought you said you had a wife who was complaining. “Yes, dear, you’re absolutely right. Could you please help me remove and carry this heavy steel door?”
My wife is 5' 2", had a knee replacement last year, and went in for a steroid shot in the other one yesterday, which put her in AFib for a while this morning, so I shan't be asking her to lift heavy objects. Oh well, the barbecue came out delicious and we now have taco meat for many weeks to come.

I took a close look at the door I painted. It looks very good. If you exam it very closely it's not quite as well done as the factory finish, but no one is going to examine a door that closely.I'm going to paint the other two the same way.

Baked a batch of German Chocolate cupcakes for best friend on the occasion of his birthday. Years ago I'd bake him a cake, but cupcakes are easier for him to hide from his wife.
I core them with a 1" and fill with frosting , then frost the tops.

So... do those count as a friendly fire incidents? Or do we yell at the guy that gave them the forklift certification? Or were they broadcasting youtube while driving around? :)

is the shovel supporting the post or did it cause the bend?

Well, if the forklift driver killed herself and her father because she didn’t understand the forklift controls,.....

No dude, the forklift driver killed herself because the forklift instructor passed her because of her looks. And somebody was woke. We're moving fast here, try to keep up.

Had to sit through an attendance taken roadshow today so I used that time to work on a custom checklist in Garmin Pilot. They have some pretty nifty smart features included.IMG_0019.jpeg

Today was frustrating.

First, my hearing aids died, two unrelated failures on both sides. They're under warranty, but it'll probably be a week before replacements arrive and I'm traveling next week. Grrr.

Then started working on the FAA application for an amended airworthiness certificate for my Parrakeet to update the operating limitations so the holder of an LSRI certificate (me, after I take the class next week) can do the annual condition inspection. But the byzantine online form has no clear instructions, and it's asking questions (with required answers) that only apply to type certificated aircraft. Grrrr.

Then filled out the renewal questionnaire for my aircraft insurance. You'd think in 2026 the renewal form would be an editable pdf but no, I had to print it, fill it out by hand, then scan it to email it back. Grrrrr.

All this in the middle of recovery from rotator cuff surgery (right shoulder and I'm right handed) making typing and writing difficult. Grrrrrr.

Time for another beer.

Well, you didn’t tell us the guilty driver was a dude....
Have no idea. Just guessing based on what I've seen in the buildings I work in. I just get to see the aftermath.

Would you like to become my new best friend between now and my birthday in October?

Fixed my mag stupidity and taxied the biplane around the airport in the mist. VV002 day, nobody around to distract me.

Flew my lowest approach ever. Never had to use the "keep going to 100 feet if you can see approach lights" trick before!

But then ended up in the land of clear and a million (AZ) at the end of the day with a couple days to chill. Had a burger with @billwil.

OK, I'm cheating. That was yesterday. Today, I did various activities outdoors and soaked up as much sun as possible because it's supposed to be rainy and cold when I get home.

Found out my friend Hollins passed away this week. He was a good guy. Vietnam vet, artillery. Worked at and retired from the Watervliet Arsenal. Grew up in New Orleans. Ham radio operator and volunteer. Taught me how to make gumbo. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Hollins.

He'll be missed.

Reset all my watches to DST. After that exhausting activity, I took a nap, waking up in time to grill a porterhouse to share with SWMBO for dinner.

Set 5 clocks to EDT. (had set 2 yesterday). I will endeavour to persevere.

Watch the dog go bonkers over a pocket on my jacket. Apparently I brought in a bee after checking the hives and she heard it. She wasn't satisfied until it was dead and eaten.

Went for a short night flight to see about this 50kt wind aloft at 3000' MSL. Hit 175kts over the ground at 55% power.

The wind shear around 2000 feet was abrupt, bumpy and generally uncomfortable... But a price I was willing to pay for those speeds!
