What did you do today?

Figured out why the USB plugs would go in and out. Loose power connection on the breaker. Which led me to find a loose connection on the alt field breaker.

Currently cleaning the belly.

Met with my CFI mentor, then took my friend and his '57 172 up to Mille Lacs Lake where we did a bunch of soft field takeoffs and landings on the snow-covered ice. He's approaching his private checkride, I told him he's getting the premium student pilot experience. :ihih:

Had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. Gonna be a few months before I can hand prop my Parrakeet...

good luck and don't try to cut corners with the PT.

Learned to water ski on that lake in 57.
Aunt had a house on the west shore not far from Omania. Good memories.

I drove by the airport where my plane is hangared. Wind was blowing and gusting from 30 to 45. , just waved at the BP helicopter fueling up and kept on my way.

Changed the oil and replaced the spark plugs. When did Unison sell to Tempest? It was time.

Attended a member appreciation breakfast at Bok Tower Gardens with SWMBO. Heard from the soon-to-retire CEO about plans and progress, including the recent acquisition of nearly 200 more acres for the property. We love the place (it’s where @SkyChaser and @2-Bit Speed were married) and ordinarily we would have spent a while roaming the gardens afterward, but we decided it was a bit too chilly for that. Beautiful place, though.

On the way home we stopped by the saddle shop and picked up the new holster for my BBQ gun. https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/na-bbq-musings.152367/page-3#post-3704122 post #120

We’re having decent flying weather right now, but I’m fighting a cold with some nasal congestion so I’ve stayed on the ground all week.

I’ve spent the last two days experiencing the complications and limitations of 2FA/MFA applications.

I need to go fly.

Went to the indoor firing range. I usually shoot into our sand pit on the farm, but my wife wanted to try some rental guns. Been quite a while, felt good to throw some hot lead downrange with the 1911 and my carry pistol again.

Finally got back in the air. First flight since October of 25.
Practiced slow flight , descending spirals, turning stalls ,departure stalls , s turns over a road. Pattern work with 3 landings.
Good to be out on such a nice day in North Montana. No snow cover and only a bit in the deep draws of the hills.

Finally got back in the air.

Same. Haven't flown since before Thanksgiving. I came back to Florida for a business meeting, and stayed a few extra days to finish the annual and mount my overhauled prop. Should wrap up paperwork and test fly it later today. Then I will start working on mounting aileron spades.

Is there an STC to install those on a Decathlon?

Installed a new big-money stainless HVAC box in one of our box trucks. Salt brine is awful.

Found my electric fence controller.

I have not seen it in about 5 or so years.

So I plugged it in.

It still works.

My wife thought I was having a heart attack again...
When I was 19, I spent 6 months working a Willamette Valley, OR farm/ranch--Cattle, sheep, beans, alfalfa, oats. The experience made me a man, but I digress.

The lead hand and only other hand, Johnny, and I had a competition to catch the biggest rat. I'm slinging a few abandoned 3-wire alfalfa bales onto a small flatbed with Johnny a the wheel when the biggest rat I've ever seen shot out from between the bales.

I give chase. The field is straw stubble. Not a problem for me but an issue for the rat and it's slowing him down. I'm hot on his tail crouched down trying to grab his tail and the world explodes in a brilliant, thunderous white flash. I open my eyes and I'm on my back staring at little sparkles swimming in the sky. Johnny is about dying with laughter.

He said when I hit the single strand of electric wire we had strung to keep the sheep in the field as they munched the leftovers, I flew backwards in the air about six feet with a yell that probably echoed off the Cascades.

The rat got away.

Then there was the time I tried to ride their horse, Feo.

HVAC guy pointed out, once again, that the run capacitor on our furnace fan was out of spec. About 25% lower capacitance than it should be. He could replace it for us today, for only $190.

I ordered a new one for $17. Think I'll buy myself something nice with the other $173.

I found this tail wheel skid while cleaning new to me hangar.
Don't know what air craft it came off of. All aluminum. If some one wants it ,pay the postage.
