What did you do today?

Went to Grants, NM for a doctor appointment.

I am convinced the word Medicare is Neptunian for ''We will teach this guy to turn 65...''

I got to have lunch today, a rare occasion indeed for me. As I sat down to eat, I turned on the Tv. The '70s era show ''Emergency" was on. They were fighting a fire in a 3 story wooden frame building. As the fireman were climbing the ladder, I noticed something. The fireman was wearing the plastic fireman hat with the fireman oxygen mask, fireman jacket, fireman oxygen tank, fireman gloves, then gabardine pants and leather dress shoes.

I guess being a well dressed fireman was pretty important back then...

Rural small town volunteer fire department? On call and the beeper rings it’s go time, no time to change clothes even if you were meeting with banker for the years farms operating loan ;).

Refrigerator blew up. Bought a refrigerator. Got to see my kegerator usurped and retasked to a food fridge.

Got the results from a MRI of my elbow. Partial tears of Bisep Tendons. Only the second time I injured myself while not doing something fun. Pulling a suitcase out of the back of my X3 .

Doc said I dodged a bullet and don’t do anything strenuous for 4-6 weeks. No Surgery or PT suggested. Bodies are like airplanes. The older they are the higher the maintenance required.

Guess that’s the end of skiing this season. Fortunately it’s been lousy snow conditions all year so not going to miss much. Should be able to be two handed by Rough River but obviously not capable of any firewood gathering or other chores:cheers:

Lucky you, my rotator cuff tear put the kibosh on skiing this year... and it's the best snow in at least 15 years around here. :cryin:

Removed the remaining balusters from our staircase. Yanking all the wood ones, replacing the railings with new, and installing all wrought iron balusters. Gee, this is fun.

You did. Ruptured bicep tendon is a common injury in the Army. Usually caused by mishandling of static line while parachuting. Looks freaky, causes a baseball-sized bulge in upper arm, even after repair.

Went to the airport for coffee and sweets and talk aviation, for the afternoon was planning on a boat trip but the morning fog started to roll back in.

They don’t generally “change” clothes, they add them. My dad’s coat and pants hung over his boots, and he could get into it all pretty quickly.

I put too much effort in at the day job today. Fridays are supposed to be low key affairs

I friend of mine did it by trying to catch a Harley Davidson that was falling over when he was moving it for storage. Hint of the day, do NOT try to catch a falling motorcycle. Doesn't matter how much the bike costs, it's not worth it. Friend was eventually OK, but it took about 2 years for a complete recovery, if my memory is right.

X3 - glad you dodged the bullet, and take the Dr's advice and take it easy for a while!

Fixed a bunch of minor niggling panel trim and placard issues in a friend's 172. My CFI mentor and I are wrapping up the ground portion of my CFI training and it's time to get in an airplane together. I'm too heavy to put the 172R into utility category and spin it, so we're going to use this 1958 relic. I'm hoping to use it for the CFI checkride, been working to dial in my maneuvers with the slightly different power delivery, handling, and visual references.

Wife dragged me back to the indoor range, where she decided which of the rental pistols she wants to buy. I slapped together a bunch of rimfire AR parts I'd been collecting, but didn't feel motivated enough to mill an 80% receiver this week, so it ended up on a cornball Spike's Tactical receiver that's been sitting in my safe. With some fiddling, I got its iron sights dialed in reasonably well. Runs pretty well for a .22 - only a couple malfunctions out of ~200 rds of Federal bulk ammo. Completely pointless little thing, but kinda fun. Needs a sling badly.

Not today, but Thursday I went to check out a volunteer place that takes old tool donations.

They take tool donations, old wrenches, socket sets, hand tools, some power tools, etc., and resell them kind of like a good will. Proceeds go the a local senior citizen program. Now I have a place I can take things that aren't quite what I want anymore, without the hassle of trying to sell on CL or whatever, or just taking them out as scrap metal. A bunch of older guys running the place, talked with one for a bit who used to do sales for IBM back when mainframes were more of a thing.

They also had some industrial stuff that I didn't expect to see. Near the checkout counter was a ratchet that looks like it was maybe 1" drive, about the size of an oar for a rowboat. I did successfully walk out without buying anything, so a win-win for me.

Yesterday, actually.

Traded an F150 in on a GMC Sierra. This thing has so many bells & whistles it should require a type rating.

Flew private Chicago to KC… flying commercial KC to Dallas.

Finally set up starlink.

Our soon-to-be previous ISP charges $65/mo for 25mbps. It went out the day we left for Nashville. Couldn't get it back on today, so decided to see if we were eligible for the $80 starlink residential light plan yet. Turns out they released a $50/mo 100mbps plan in January. Made it an easy decision.
