What did you do today?

Sat on my indoor trained and tried to catch up on Pluribus.

Pulled home an Extremely good condition 1969 sooner craft tri-hull boat with a 120hp mercruiser IO power unit. I had answered an ad for the engine for a future project, showed up to pick it up and it was the entire complete boat and trailer with service records and an engine compartment that looked like it has been in a time capsule since 1970. The guy said he advertised it as parts so somebody who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty would get it and use it and that he didn’t worry about money. Total cost $200 and the gas to pull it home. It felt kinda unreal, like something that only happens in movies.

Stopped in Crystal River to meet dad's old flight instructor to give him a flight review. Saw a familiar looking plane on the ramp. Was nice to meet you @Salty

Got that out of the way in time to get dinner in Marathon.

I forgot I also got a clearance through the TPA bravo. Didn't even request it. But I'll take the early Christmas present.

Today I praised the Lord I got a last minute text meesage reprieve that I don't have to host family visiting for Christmas, they filed an alternate with my brother and will stay there. As per my pact with the Almighty, I will attend Christmas Eve service for this good fortune.

Hosting family at Thanksgiving and Christmas was going to be too much, I'm glad the powers that be sought to intervene divinely.

Finally got the radiator, fan shroud and fan back into the 52 F1. There are 4 ways to do it. I had to do it 5 times.

I might have to hit you up for some pointers. Finally got my garage cleaned up. Need to get grandpa's old truck running. Same year same model I think. My cousin's husband runs a body shop and is itching to get it painted.

Breaking down and vacuum sealing many pounds of pork, a favorite annual Christmas gift from the family hog farm. Ribs, tenderloin, chops, bacon, sausage with the family seasoning blend, jowls for the traditional New Year's meal.

Worked on sorting out the plans for the annual winter stay in Steamboat Springs. I'll be working weekends in the Ticket Office again this winter, mid Jan till the end of the season. Easy money and quite a few perks.

Happy to help - there are a couple very good 48-52 Ford pickup sites on book of faces that have been a big help. I think this is going to stay "old KY farm truck" unless I get silly and have someone do the body work. It has the 215CI straight 6 - not the acme of Fords engineering expertise but their first OHV engine.

One of my backcountry buddies lives in Steamboat, so I'll probably visit a few times this year. I'll stop by the office to say hello while I am up there. Now the snow has to cooperate. Pretty grim right now. I'm in Avon and the mountains are bare.

Watched the movie “the egg and I” with my sons. I hadn’t seen it since I was a kid, and despite being black and white they liked it (my 6 year old thought the “woody” car was awesome and took some convincing that yes, there was a time when car bodies were made of wood as an option).

Cute movie. Ever read the book? The movie puts more emphasis on comedy, but the book has some darker spots.

I have not, but now may

The “Kettles” weren’t the poor folks with hearts of gold like the movie shows, but were actually pretty worthless lowlifes, and the real life family recognized themselves and brought a lawsuit.

Nature walk and fish pedicure. Didn't think anyone wanted to see the latter.

Yesterday, I drove from my home in Roswell, GA to my sister's home near Williston, FL, to bring her to our place for Christmas. She's having some health issues and wasn't up to making the drive herself. Odd incident #1, we had ordered sub sandwiches from Publix. I picked them up, took them to her house, and when we started eating them, we found that our alleged turkey sandwiches had no meat on them. Odd incident #2, we're driving on I-75 in south Georgia, and the truck in the lane next to us had the two wheels on the forward of the two axles come off along with the brake drum, and some other assorted hardware. The wheels kept on rolling, one in the lane we were in, and the other started going to the right lane, and finally wound up in a fence on the right shoulder. The one in our lane just kept on rolling, and was slowly decelerating, I just stayed behind it. It finally came to rest against the barrier between the northbound and the southbond lanes and we were able to resume our trip.

Sure glad that happened in the daylight, if it had be night I probably would never have seen it.

I've had a fish pedicure in Cambodia. Weird feeling. I mean, that I would even allow myself to do that.

As far as what I did today, I...

1. Got up in the morning for the gym, left at 4:30. A big chunk of the neighbors palm tree was blown on the street and I had to drive over the sidewalk and other neighbor's yard to get around it.

2. Told a couple jokes to my gym people. The bartender asked me if I wanted to play a drinking game. I said I'd give it a shot. The judge asked me if I was an alcoholic. I plead the fifth.

3. Went to lunch, this is the one day of the year I splurge. I had a burger (still lettuce wrapped) and onion rings. I never have onion rings. Habit's onion rings are awesome.

4. A group of neighbors pulled the mess of palm branches to the side and called County emergency services to have it hauled away. They said they couldn't respond unless it was actually blocking the street. The group of neighbors pulled the palm branches back in to the street. Including the stuff that fell in my side yard.

5. Played some unwinnable farming game that I have been playing for the last.... year? Probably more than that.

5. Now here we are...

I wondered why this whole thing struck me funny. Then it occurred to me that there's a version of that they do in NY. Usually in reference to the east river and involving cement. I've never heard of it described as a pedicure, though. Would avoid, have not read a positive review.

Oh, and today I made beef stock from trimmings from a tenderloin, wrapped Christmas presents, watched a Christmas movie, and took a nap. That's if "Working Man" is considered a Christmas movie.

Started the day with a peaceful walk in sunny Florida. Going to watch some football and have a relaxing day.

Dug into my beater Jetta, intending to replace the exhaust flex pipe. Ended up building a whole new downpipe. Ran out of argon. Ended up having to order a new stainless O2 sensor bung, won't be here until the weekend.

Poor planning all around on my part. Merry Christmas
