What did you do today?

But what about for say....lobster? Going bully netting in a week and hope to have my fair share
Some people get all snobby about clarified butter. I don't care as long as it's got the right amount of garlic in it.

I ask about salted vs unsalted too… gives me time to form an excuse for when it was supposed to be unsalted, which I won’t buy.
This is the correct answer.

Only time I use unsalted is for baking, and that's only because the salt can affect the rise if it's not as the recipe directs. I'm not a good enough baker to know how to compensate so I just follow the directions for doughs.

All good unless you're making a dark roux, or getting a pan hot enough to sear a steak with just butter. Yeah, mostly I'll use veg oil for gumbo, but I like the taste of butter better. I am a bit of a baby when it comes to not liking burned butter, I'll admit that.

Just left the local NFL teams practice facility. They had an emergency in the weight room and apparently I'm on speed dial to sort things out.

Went to Annual Christmas Lunch with a group of friends from high school. We have been doing this for probably over 30 years. Oldest class was 1959, youngest, 1964. Most of us played Basketball back in the day and now nothing more strenuous than golf.

Been a full day, and most of it fun.

Spent a while at the gun range this morning. I’ve put 150 rounds through my new 1911 now without a hitch. Love the way it shoots. Also burned a few rounds in my 357, a S&W 686+.

Stopped by the local saddle shop to discuss getting a holster made for the 1911. The guy there, CJ, does outstanding work (he does saddle work for the US Olympic team), so I’ll probably order a holster from him after the holidays.

Saw my optometrist this afternoon. No signs of impending blindness, but he’s tweaking my prescription a bit.

Pulled out one of the Les Pauls and worked on some Christmas music for church this Sunday.

I love being retired.

Went on Barnstormers and looked at planes. Missing my 180. Contemplating a run out bird and doing my best @Jim K impression.

I also got a hair cut.

Went to the usda office this morning and did a little Christmas shopping. Then took a Christmas gift to my AP/IA before committing aviation.

Flew to mto for lunch. Decided the $/tastiness ratio is getting out of whack there and I'll go somewhere else next time. Then went to DNV and bought 65gal of go-juice for $4.68/gal.

Did not engage the autopilot. Pilotage to mto and VOR to cmi. I did use the GPS to get to dnv though since their vor is gone now. Perfect day for it here. Sunny, calm, and a bit above freezing.

Wrapped up with some shop time. Drilled out and reset some rivets I didn't like from last night. Then realized I forgot a step and the only way to fix it was to drill out about 30 rivets (including the six I just set) and remove the parts. Sigh. So that's about all I got done tonight. Forward progress, but not by much.

reminds me of the year I got a bread machine for Christmas…put in the ingredients, turn it on, and a few hours later you have bread.

Except that my first loaf was very short and dense…didn’t rise at all. We were trying to figure out what went wrong, and my 90-something grandma broke off a bit and tasted it. “How much salt did you put in this?”

“Whatever the recipe said, two tablespoons or something like that.”

Well, it was supposed to be teaspoons, and obviously I had killed the yeast with salt. But for the rest of the day, my grandma would start chuckling spontaneously when she thought about it.

Went to dinner with a buddy. His gf just moved out and took all the crap in his house. Couch. Bed. Tv. And both his dogs. One of which he got years before they met.

Oh.... And she took every roll of toilet paper in the house. Bro... Wtf did you do?
If they don’t move in they can’t move out.

Made my annual batch of pignoli for my sister. I don't like them, but they are her favorite cookie.

Brand, model, size, caliber of your new 1911?

Just be sure to ferment the milk thoroughly to remove the sugar, then add sugar free honey to sweeten the taste. And cookies aren't cookies without chocolate chips... :yesnod:
How else are you supposed to get the sugar back in without the chocolate chips? ;)

I realized today there is one thing that Microsoft Copilot has made me an expert in, and that's learning how to efficiently disable Copilot across all my windows applications and devices.
I can now expertly navigate all the menus in everything from Windows to Word to Excel to Notepad and turn that **** off like a pro. (It keeps re-enabling itself after each windows update)

Not today, but yesterday. Got some steroid injections on my lower spine. Felt like poo last night, woke up this morning and - oddly enough - several things that neither I nor the spinal doc thought were related seem to be significantly better. Took the dog for his 0430 walk and my stride was back to its norm from probably 15 year ago.

As an added bonus, after the doc squirted steroids directly into my spine I have an easier time dealing with obstructions on our walk.

Stopped in Crystal River to meet dad's old flight instructor to give him a flight review. Saw a familiar looking plane on the ramp. Was nice to meet you @ Salty.

Got that out of the way in time to get dinner in Marathon.

Jeez, man, wish I’d known. I was flying this morning and could easily have buzzed over to Crystal River.

Oh well.

Football Watching. Mostly FCS Teams as the two later FBS games were a waste of time.

Also tried to figure out the Waterpik Gizmo my GF bought me. How I managed to keep all my teeth for umpteen years without such a gadget must have been a miracle

Went to da Bears game. Flew into Midway in the Seneca, took the El to the game, watched the Bears look mostly useless until the last 5 minutes plus overtime.

Flying into Midway was cool but it wasn't super busy on a Saturday. They did side step me to 31L which is actually shorter than my home runway. I find that funny.

Did a breakfast flight ,now watching Football.

I guess I'm partly responsible for the win. Without that piece of gym equipment I fixed earlier in the week, would they have won? Nobody will ever know.

Four mile hilly walk, bowled two lines, and then drank beer and watched football with relatives. And note the youngins are cooking dinner for us! It could be really good, could be …
