What did you do today?

Oh my. That is one big leap to the ground. But they end up there anyway so they might as well be comfortable.

It's not straight to the floor. You can see the top of our TV in the bottom left of the picture. She jumps to that and then to the floor. It's also how she gets up there.

Same thing as yesterday. And the day before. And.....

It's getting old. I need a day off. Hopefully I get the beans all done this week and take Sunday off before going hard in corn next week.

I remember those long days…glad I got into aviation for the cushy 14-hour days. ;)

Good news is, you know there’s an end to it…it’s not going to go on constantly for years.

just think about what it was like doing all that by hand many moons ago.

It IS an airconditioned cab, right?

Yeah. They used to do this with NO cab. I can understand why kids were eager to leave the farm and get a factory job.

Meanwhile, this is what I get for complaining:

Probably while I was making that post, the hydraulic suction filter decided to unscrew itself (after 300 hours of service) and dump all 15 gallons of oil. Sigh.

Today I learned that I shouldn't review my logbook entries while eating lunch.
Now my latest 337 form I just picked up from the shop has a massive deli mustard stain on it.... Whoops...
And my effort to clean it off only made it far, far worse

Looks like someone unswallowed in there.

No bueno

Today, I found out that until a certain group of people get their head out of their arse, I’m working for free

You have my most sincere sympathies.

Have you considered building your own runway and going into business for yourself?

Yeah. They used to do this with NO cab. I can understand why kids were eager to leave the farm and get a factory job.

Atleast it didn’t start a fire.

It’s a diesel…it’ll keep running for a long time!

Been there, done that, same reason, different arses. No fun.

I committed aviation for 1.1 hours today. 1173 days since the last time. I was only mildly terrified climbing out after takeoff #1, given that my previous two flights both included partial power loss at that point. But, the airplane is still reusable so I guess I'll have to do it all again. And the pilot in the right seat didn't even flinch during a "slightly sporty" crosswind takeoff after that, much to his credit.

In my youth, I worked a 300 acre farm/ranch in Monmouth-Independence, Oregon for six months. Sunup to sundown working the 300 acres of alfalfa, beans, and wheat, and contract baling up and down the Willamette valley. Worked a straight month without a day off. It made me a man. For a kid from the suburbs, I learned to appreciate just how damn hard farmers work. Back then a bushel of wheat went for about $2. Today it's about $6, a 300% percent increase while the total inflation rate is over $700.

Thank you to all the farmers and ranchers out there.

Blot don't rub.

Got the serpentine belt and tensioner replaced on my X3. Lasted almost 150000 miles.

I want what you’re smoking.

Installed a staircase. Got my welds critiqued by the companies safety twit.

"Why didn't you preheat that?"

Cuz it's an 1-1/2 x1/8" SQ tube railing....

"What color yellow are you using for touchup"

Safety yellow

"Can I take a picture of the can"

If it will get you out of my hair absolutely.

Have you never seen the training video of how to deal with over enthusiastic rule enforcement personnel? Make it more of a paperwork hassle than they even what to consider going through to correct it so they just walk away and pretend they didn’t see it. (Obviously I’m joking and being a smart arse..).

I was so close to asking to see his aws cwi certificate.

Earlier there was a 1/2" piece of black pipe that needed to be removed. The the upper connection was roughly 7' off the ground. The guy paid to watch us work decided to get a 4 foot extension ladder. Safety man Dan yelled at him and got the scissor lift and proceeded to attempt to take off the pipe himself. Except he wasn't quite sure how a pipe wrench worked.
