What did you do today?

Definitely worth a little extra hassle to drive a classic versus a retired FedEx step van. The business' whole public-facing identity is wrapped up in the appearance of the truck.

Beneath the surface, I saw a lot of really questionable design/engineering choices, but I won't live long enough to rehab every crappy project car that rolls through my life.

Lol. You don't want to eat this corn unless you're a cow. I will bring some honey though.
I worked summers on a farm/ranch during high school and my first few years of college. A highway ran through the property, and often cow corn destined to become silage was planted on both sides. It was a fairly common occurrence to see a car stop, corn thieves run into the field and emerge a minute or two later with an armful of ears.

Hope they enjoyed their dinner! :)

Made a couple quick and dirty aluminum patches on a 77 year old food truck. Roof fairing was cracked originating at the door frames. Door frames were originally held together by a single aluminum rivet in the upper corner, which was sheared off on both sides. Added a little gusset plate. Guy needed it back the following day, so I used blind rivets and a doubler plate on the skin to expedite the turnaround. Someone swapped the body onto a Chevy pickup frame and didn't have the best mounting strategy, so I advised the smashburger chef he would likely encounter more tears or buckles going forward. Would have liked to have spent a week with this one, but nobody is going to pay for that.
Nice work and Truck!!

We fill propane at work so we see a lot of food trucks. One came in the other day leaking sewage water in our parking lot. It smelled real bad. No way I'd buy anything off of that nasty truck.

Got the prop on and pitch set… twice. I guess that spinner backplate matters. Purged the oil system, did a bunch of other stuff to make it start looking like an airplane again.

I'm not a (real) plumber, nor a photographer for that matter, but why? I don't think they could have fit any more fittings in this box.

I watched a movie about gladiators.

Ok, not really, it was a movie where some old guy asked a young boy if he liked movies about gladiators.

Also watched the sequel.

(I gotta get a life...)

Called in a monster bull to 43 yards for dad. Bull was raking brush as he was a bit upset a new bull (me) moved into his area. Dad took a bad route and couldn't get a clear shot. Bull noticed him in the sun and that was that. Archery makes things fun.

6 miles on foot from 9200' to 9800' through some nasty blow down...then back down to 9200' for the walk of shame.

Earlier had a small 4x4 bull 8 yards from us. Then a calf about 6 feet away. Never got busted.

My daily things are a lot simpler than most here. Today I had a second successful 3d print of ASA without enclosure or wind screen. That's supposed to be tricky, but I found it easy if I cheat. I took the ambient room temp up to 80F for the print, and a added a break-away skirt to the bottom of the tube in the design. 3" tube, .080" wall, 2" long, set to light press fit into each other to make it expandable. The bottom white piece was just ASA for the inside, a 5 degree offset and a flange to mount flush against the wall.

Milled out the center bores of some Bentley wheels so a friend could mount them on his Audi. Love the Kearney & Trecker 2D mill.

Flew IFR to Duluth with my wife, first time taking her into the clouds.

Yesterday we took a short drive to Glacier Park. Went to Two Medicine Lake. All campgrounds are closed there for the season. Made a stop at what used to be called Twin Falls. Only one fall running now because of low water.
But....
A lady friend took this picture of Sparky and I. No photo shop but wound up with Twin dogs ?

Wife: My ATV needs new rear tires
Me: order these from Amazon
Wife: when they come in, can you take the wheels off and I’ll take them to Discount?
Me: of course

Tires arrive. I take off the wheels off

Me: want me to load these in your jeep?
Wife: (with confused look) no
Me: where do you want them?
Wife: in your truck
Me: you said you’d take them to discount
Wife: no I didn’t
Me: you said and I quote “can you take the wheels off and I’ll take them to discount”
Wife: I don’t remember saying that

So here I am at discount tire

It’s a trap!

What you heard

What you should have said:
Me: Discount Tire is perfect. They are a little slow so I can pop on over to Home Depot’s aviation department and get some new tools. Shouldn’t be more than a few hours and a few AMUs.

The national forest system is awesome and underappreciated.
:yeahthat:

The national parks preserve some stunningly beautiful areas, but they’re also over-developed, over-commercialized, over-restricted, and over-crowded. The national forests are not, and also have some beautiful places.

You can add the WMAs to that list too.

Can you meet us in Athens on Saturday morning? We could use a ride.View attachment 145401
Just left there this afternoon, although I did not get to stay there. We had to reposition up to Thessaloniki because Athens was soooooo busy that they wouldn’t let us park overnight. IMG_0938.jpeg

Sat on the ****ter at work with “achy breaky heart” on the bathroom sound system.

Must be the country music version of “here I sit all broken hearted…”

Did 2.0 of breaking in the new Archer engine - Seems good but the CHTs are much higher than I'm used to seeing, topping out @ 440 during a 90 KT climb in 65 degree weather. Dropped by the shop and pulled the cowl and everything seems fine. Maybe it's just new and tight.

Did they double check the timing? 440 is too hot IMHO.
