What did you do today?

On the trail we thought it was 2 broken wrists, plus neck and back injury. After we got her out and to the ER, everything turned out negative, unless the radiologist finds something they missed on second look. Just reall bad sprains and swelling.

Always wear a full face/motocross helmet. She said she slid for 30 feet on her face, but not a single scratch in that area.
Well, we got back to civilization, and the pain was NOT getting any better in the left. So, she got more X-rays done by her PCP. The PCP is convinced there's a "non-dsiplaced fracture of the ulnar styloid" and she's now waiting on a call from the ortho. Oh yeah, and for pain, she gave her a script for Aleve. ****ing Aleve. For a broken bone. "It should work in combination with Tylenol and Advil." It doesn't. ****ing idiots.

Edit: Several articles and orthos have said DON'T take NSAIDs after a fracture (for up to six weeks). Hinders the healing process.

amen. I still have a very distinct memory of sliding along the asphalt with my helmet scraping along the road and thinking how glad I was that I was wearing my full face helmt. (all the protective gear worked). I still have that helmet as a reminder.

I found that advil/tylenol to be next to useless when I had a broken collarbone (and the resulting adhesive capsulitis).

With me and anything osteo they do absolutely nothing. (Mostly dental stuff, implants, extractions, root canals) I won't even consent to the procedure unless they give me 3-5 days of opiods. The first root canal I had done they told me to do the advil/tylenol regiment. Yeah, never again. 4 days of misery.

For my thumb with 4 fractures, I was given 800MG of Ibuprofen. It did take the pain from almost unbearable to only painful, do not touch.

2 months later I still have minor pains in my thumb. And neck muscles, cheek bone and pelvis.

Be careful with Ibuprofen. It is a blood coagulant and can cause heart attacks, strokes and PE's. Ask me how I know.

I've recently removed it from my regiment, not for that reason, but because in my system it appears to be an analogue for the Taco Bell Express. Only a few weeks in to seeing if that's a cause, but for the reasons you mentioned, probably good, since I already had a blood clot issue.

It's Ok, I already had a heart attack.

So I switched to fentanyl. So much easier to get on a street corner instead of waiting in line at Walmart...

When I broke my scaphoid racing, they gave me Vicodin. Made me drousy as hell took two and dealt with it the rest of the time. The displaced pseudo Jones fracture in the foot, was given hydrocodone. Despite the throbbing, I didn't take them. Wrist surgery, flat out told the nurse I didn't want pain killers.

But when I had a dentist pull a wisdom tooth. Good lord. He said he'd write me script if the pain was bad. 3 hours later I was dying for something. Called in, his wife said just take some Tylenol. **** you!!!

Mowed the yard, and took 3 IBprofen tablets for the lower back. Then drank a beer. Not feeling a thing!

Better living through drugs! Amen. Getting old is not for sissies!

Worked a shift at the National Museum of the USAF in my favorite part of the Museum, the WWII Gallery,

I met a gentleman whose Uncle was a Tail Gunner in a B-17 flying with the Mighty Eighth. He told me this story.

Returning from a mission over Germany, his uncle discovered he was the only one onboard. As the plane was descending into the English Channel and was too low to bail out, he took off his chute, inflated a raft which then pushed him out of the plane and he hit the water.

He floated for three days when a fighter flew over, circled for a while and flew off. He didn’t know if that meant he was headed for Germany, England or the bottom of the Channel. A dense fog set in some hours later and he heard emanating from the fog bank “Hello Yank, are you there?” It was an Englishman who had sailed out and found the Gunner who then had fulfilled his tour and returned to the USA.

As the Admiral in the Bridges of Toko-Ri movie, “Where do we find such men?”

Flew to Charlotte Exec KEGY to watch a nephew play in a music festival. However, the festival was just canceled. Dang it

Stickered the hickory in the hangar. No @eman1200, that white powder is NOT booger sugar.

Flew with a stranger from California who happened to be a CFI. No pressure.

Sold my airplane.

Made 32k.

Talked to my mech and confirmed this year was an easy annual: no big items, nothing deferred, pick-up on Monday. That's a win!

And I spent the day chilling out by the ocean in Mexico, so that's also a win. Now... I just need to not miss my flight back home tomorrow...

Just wrapped a brisket (13lb) in foil and put back on the smoker at 250° after a 10 hour overnight smoke at 225°. Now time to wait for the probes to say 205° before I pull it, rest it, slice it.

Success??

Everyone said it was amazing and as good as/best they ever had. Not sure if being polite or genuine.

Back home from my big autistic railcar adventure. Route driver employee took a couple days off, so today I delivered fresh produce in the twin cities in a fairly well-seasoned Freightliner M2. Gonna cut some damn grass since it stopped raining for a minute. Really missing that low humidity we enjoyed out west; Gold Bond stocks are up!

How was the cumbres and Toltec?

Useless information of the day. The Cumbres and Toltec train was used in the Seth MacFarlane movie "A Million Ways To Die In The West"

Pretty cool! We started in Chama, rode about 2/3 of the way to Antonito and back on day 1, then all the way to Antonito on day 2, spent the night, and rode back to Chama the third day.
Damn that's a trek. We rode the bus from chama to Antonito. Then the Antonito train all the way to Chama. Stopping is Osier for food and water(for the train). Pretty wild what they were able to do back then in the mountains. In winter. A few miles in 12 days. Couldn't do that now with modern equipment.

It's a pretty good haul, but we move quite a bit faster than the train. We got lunch at that Osier cafeteria on days 2 and 3 - good food!

Watched my plane head off for a better life in California.

Started planning flying destination ideas for a weekend trip with the kiddo during engine break in. Might include a different day trip to OSH in a few weeks too
