What did you do today?

Gotta change it hot, you get more "stuff" out. Assuming airplane, you don't have a quick release valve?
I do. They aren't the easiest to operate but I'm getting better at it. The burning part was while taking the filters off. Your hand is exposed to seeping oil while you're trying to untwist the last few revolutions of the slippery filter.

I don't have this. But been tempted for this reason.

Until the moment the property owner visits, and the Citabria's wave function collapses forcing it out of the cosmic cloud of possibilities and into a single, concrete reality... . That Champion could be anywhere... or everywhere... or nowhere. It is only through observation that the infinite number of possibilities collapse into a discussion. Besides, if you don't observe yourself being observed, then any commentary on your presence is moot since the property owner could be anywhere... or everywhere... or nowhere... at least not where you might be... maybe.
That’s some flighty stuff

What if I put a cat in a box?

Interesting. The Continental TSIO-360s have a vertical oil filter. If you don't want to drop the cowling, the trick is to put a ziploc bag underneath it while you turn and remove it. Tons of oil goes in the bag (and all over your hand) but the cowling stays clean if you do it right.

Moved from our old hangar to our new one. The old: dimly lit no matter what we put in there, leaky roof vent, widespread flooding when it rains, facing another row of hangar doors, pushbutton door controls that you need to hold to keep the door moving - no auto stop. The new: brightly lit, no roof vent, faces the runway, only minor puddles when it rains, winch at the back wall, 220 outlet on the wall, toggle switch with auto stop for the door.

It's a better hangar in almost every way, but several people turned it down because it's got the steepest apron of all of them and about a 1-1/2" drop where the hangar floor meets the apron. Well, there's a winch, see, and I can buy a bag of cold patch to fix the dropoff.

Got an ATC-guided tour of the algae blooms off the coast of Florida thanks to the daily thunderstorms.

Or maybe it was sewage, hard to tell.

Found the cure to a migraine. Adult nap. An hour was all it took to be productive again

I sent the link to a bud with a Dakota and he bought one. I'll have a pirep in a couple of weeks. Depending on his experience, I may buy one too.

Finished my gear leg upgrade. Gained 4 inches of ground clearance at the spinner in 3 point stance.

Does it still land gentlemanly in a three point or does it need a low tail wheel landing compromise?

Edit : I can’t help but wonder if that much of a ground attitude angle change compromises final flare attitude… my gut response would be it would cause “drop in” on final touchdown

Cold plunge. Yowza, that felt good!

My wife does the sauna with a cold plunge, so i decided to go along and try the cold plunge after being outside a good chunk of the day. Somewhere between 50 and 60 degrees, depending on which reading you look at, but I spent a little more than 30 minutes over three sessions.

I think we’re going to end up with a sauna and plunge tub before long.

It’s good for you. I remember as kid walking barefoot to the mailbox in shorts and no shirt to get the mail… in Iowa winters with snow and sub zero temps, walking trap lines in the dredge ditch les in late fall for $1 muskrats, your body can acclimate to conditions. I highly recommend walking bare footed on healthy soil, idk why but it does seem to have a restorative affect to myself and every single person I have ever suggested it to before.

Yeah, growing up in MN I acclimated to wintertime way better than summer. Kansas summers just about kill me, but I think this will help a lot.

I’m also a big fan of barefoot on the ground. I notice the effect more in cooler seasons, but again, the cold plunges might make me more receptive to the benefit.

Met with the county administrator, drove a buddy to a doctor appointment, watched grandkids swim in the pool, currently attending county commission meeting. I’m tired

Grout the backsplash and installed the sink. Made a stainless trim piece to raise the range 1-1/4" to make up for the extra thick bullnose granite. The leveling pads could almost make it work but I didn't like the gap under it. Just the sink strainers and ice maker for the fridge and the garage loft apartment will be done. IMG_4486.jpeg

Probably goes without saying, but be mindful and ready for a “bounce” the first few test landings. The increased incidence on gear may make it it want to “hop” back up as the tail comes down especially if there is any excess energy and a sink rate. I think it will work out well, but I also think it will require reacclimatizing t landings.

Basically, in California, we don't do "cold." So, we get our "restorative effect" after putting a thumbtack in one of our shoes, walk around a bit, and then remove the thumbtack.

Is the restorative effect before or after the polygraph?

"Why are you hitting yourself in the head?"
"Because it feels so good when stop!"

This long-time Californian is willing to travel for a good sauna and plunge pool.
(and that's how I ended up sitting on a bench on a public street in Helsinki wearing nothing but a towel)

Nauga,
who emphasizes the "good" part

All ready for the mother-in-law!

Got some experience with an 8" hole saw before committing to cutting the actual duct hole in the exhaust hood project. Damned thing weighs 3.5 pounds and packs a ton of inertia. When it binds it can pull an arm off. Today I build a dust tent.

OK, funny sauna plunge story.
In 1994 I led a small military contact team visit to Lithuania. Our purpose was to build relationships with their newly formed Army and assess their needs. They had fought a short, violent uprising against the Soviet Union in 1991, and the last Russian troops had left in 1993. Most of the guys in their new Army were ethnically Lithuanian veterans of the Soviet Army.
It was one hell of a cool trip. We visited three infantry battalions garrisoned out in the countryside, spending a week with each. We observed training, had discussions, and participated in social events; i.e. heavy drinking.
One night our hosts took us to a cabin deep in the forest for a party. They had a wood fire heating up rocks, a sauna with a rock tray, and a plunge pool full of snowmelt. We drank some vodka, got naked in the sauna, and started dumping water on the rocks to heat it up. As it got hotter and hotter, guys started leaving.
Pretty soon there were just 2 people in the sauna; me and a guy who had been a Captain in Soviet Spetsnaz. At the time I was a Captain in US Army Special Forces. You can see the conflict.
Each of us took turns dumping more water on the rocks to raise the temperature. Neither of us was willing to admit weakness by leaving first. It got so freaking hot that I was bouncing up and down on the wood bench because it was burning the skin on my butt cheeks. I was inhaling through pursed lips to keep the steam from searing my lungs. I kept wishing that m'fer would give up, and I'm sure he wished the same about me.
Finally we both broke down, bolted out of the burning sauna, and jumped directly into the pool outside. It was late at night, pitch black, no moon, and no ambient light for tens of miles. I jumped in and submerged under the ice cold water.
At that point I believe my soul left my body. The shock of the cold water on my burning skin while I floated weightlessly underwater in the dark pool was too much for my senses, and everything just turned off. I was like an astronaut in outer space. I saw nothing, heard nothing, felt nothing.
Then I came to, climbed out of the pool, and drank more. Those people really drink a lot.
I only have one picture from that trip. They took us hunting one night. I shot this beast with a Russian sniper rifle. The troops were happy to eat fresh meat the next day.

Guessing she failed to catch you?
Literally the last thing I heard from her was how her twin sister would watch the movie Scream to go to bed when they were growing up. That was early June.

Funniest thing on PoA in a long time. Still crying.

Sorry to hear. I know it doesn't help much, but when the right one comes along, it will be obvious to both of you. At least that is what I believe.
I appreciate it. I feel the same way. Pretty much gave up looking as I think it's too easy to put a square peg in a round hole. This one was just sort of happenstance and I thought things were great. Oh well. Back to not trying.

Got myself a student pilot.

This is me pulling up to the airport 30 mins before he arrives so I can crank his elevator trim wheel to the stops, screw up all the radio freqs, and squawk a discrete transponder code.

Guy's killing it with checklist usage - he found all my sabotage.
