It seems the behavior has changed.

New posts show threads with new posts since the last time I logged in, not the last visit.

The list of threads with supposedly new posts gets longer and longer.

Has your behavior changed? Namely, did you leave the browser running and/or leave the computer without a reboot between visits? Unless PoA is leaving a cookie, which I don't see any evidence that it ever has, it shouldn't have any idea of your last visit if that visit was anonymous.

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding your question.

my behavior hasn't changed, I haven't changed how I've been accessing POA. I've been using browsers on multiple devices in the same way for quite some time. And, no, I don't quit the browsers, I don't reboot my devices. Nothing has changed on my end (yes, I know tech support people hear that all the time).

FWIW I’m seeing the same behavior as Ron. Happening on both an iPad and pc browser.

There used to be a nice line demarcating threads older than my last visit. That’s gone now.

I experienced the same thing and posted about it here.

Over time, the behavior corrected itself and now the board is behaving the way it "always has". (For a period of days or weeks, there was a mix of threads where some would behave normally and some would only take me to the top of the first page that had a reply I had not yet read, but over time the number of threads that were misbehaving got smaller and smaller.) I still don't know why it "hiccupped" like that.

It's almost certainly still there. You may not have scrolled far enough to see it, or if it really wasn't there at all, it will probably come back on your next visit.

I believe the forum's definition of "last visit" has changed.

I visit using different computers throughout the day. It used to be "last visit" was the last time I hit "new posts". Now it seems to be the last time I logged in - guess when that was...

I see no change, but my bookmark for the site is the new posts page.

Hmmm. I do not see that change.

Could it be how your browser treats cookies? A new security setting may tell the browser to keep only essential cookies instead of all cookies, therefore dropping the last read cookie?

No, the memory exists at the user account level on the PoA side. When working normally PoA will remember what threads you've read regardless of what machine or browser you log in from, as long as you're logged into your PoA account.

I see the behavior with two different browsers on two different operating systems.

I also lost the 'Threads below have not been updated since your last visit' a few weeks back.

Tried logging out and back in, and hitting 'Mark forums read' but those didn't work.

Logged out and deleted cookies and on logging back in I had 'Threads below have not been updated since your last visit' as before.

I just did what you suggest, and it worked! "These threads have not been updated" is back!

Thanks.

Spoke too soon. Clearing cookies worked for the next session, but the one after that was missing the 'Threads below.." marker.

"Threads have not been updated" is sometimes on page 2. Oddly, it's often at exactly the top of page 2.

For me I have noticed something changed. When see a post under form list that is dated today, and then click in and find no today posts??.

when you see this, was the last post in the thread made by a member on your ignore list?

I'll mention that I'm seeing odd behavior on the "Vietnam Airlines VN34, WTH?" thread. I click the link, it jumps to the new postings, but immediately jumps back several postings that I've already read.

Only seen the behavior on that specific thread, though, so no biggie....

Fingers crossed
