What are people thinking when they post ads without a single Photo?
"Here's the ad sweetie. I posted the plane on trade-a-plane like you asked. Hopefully we get an interested buyer soon. In the mean time I have to keep flying her because as you know, when a plane sits idle it just deteriorates."

This annoyed me too, but there's usually an option to filter ads that don't have pics. There's no GOOD reason to not post a pic on a good airplane that's really for sale, so I have to assume no pic means not for sale.

Pics are what got me to fly to minnesota to look at mine. IF/when I sell it, I'm going to have pics out the wazoo in good light and in focus. Sex that thing up.

I'm betting some old(er) timers may not know how to post a pic on a website.
Heck, I know I have struggled with it.

No Pics and / Or no price, and I skip it.
May have kept me from finding a better deal but I shouldn't have to pull information out of someone that wants to sell something.
Should be the other way around. "Sell" is a verb.

*so is "buy". I know. Shut up.

No excuse with camera phones these days. And don't post just one ****ing picture, the more the better.

It's very common to see advertisements on VAF that say "email for pics."

It's partially because you have to use photobucket or the like to link a URL to have pics in your post. I think some of the older people would rather send pics via email than figure out how to have them in the ad.

Also, it cuts down on the "nice plane, good luck" responses when there are no pics and prices to comment on. ;)

No pictures, or just bad pictures. I found one on-line that looked reasonable, I clicked on the photos and they were still tiny. So I emailed the seller, he sent me the same tiny photos. I moved on.

When I went to look at the plane I bought I ended up taking something like 150 photos and still missed a couple spots.

Also, if anyone in the PNW wants photos of their plane to sell it, let me know, I'll probably do it for gas money just so people don't have to look at another tiny blurry photo of something that might be a plane.

And no base/empty weight (or alternatively useful load). Lists every single standard thing you can get anyway by just looking up the model number, but base weight which differ for individual airplanes even with the same options, is almost never specified.

It would be nice if the sell sites had more required fields.
Every seller, got an email from me:

What is Useful Load?
What is typical Cruise speed?
What year was the overhaul done?
Do you have oil analysis records?
Are the following ADs complied with?
Any known / documented corrosion?
Any hail damage?
Any damage history?
Any Liens on the aircraft
When is the annual due?

When I go to sell, I am going to do my best to not waste anyone's time by not having all that info and more.

Good list... thanks...I'll probably use it...

Photobucket or equivalent is the best, you can post all the high resolution pictures you want. I've never understood why you wouldn't want to provide any prospective buyers as much information as possible, do you really want to talk to a lot of people who were looking for something other than what you have?

I agree it’s ridiculous. One or two crappy resolution photos from afar is just as ridiculous.

Google Photos is an excellent platform for sharing photos. Much better than Photobucket (which I used to use years ago).

If I can figure out how, I'll do one of those 360 VR panoramas. Here... sit in my plane. Heck, why not include a flying video or two. Some air to air, pics of it at fly ins, etc. Let the user imagine themselves using it.

Hmmmm. Maybe there's some money to be made in making professional airplane ads for people.

you either are in sales, or should be...

I'd vote for myself, if it were actually a rant poll.

Pffft. You only need all of that if you want the buyer to make an informed decision.

With no pictures, how enticing could the add be?

Sometimes they sound great with a, what you might think, is a bargain price... I've learned there is no such thing though... Many if not most are looking for some uninformed nitwit to give them their asking price because it has fresh paint... I saw an ad the other day asking top dollar for an Archer that had a 2017 paint job...Beautiful! But had a 5000 hr airframe, 1200 hours on the motor and circa 1970's radios...

I love the ones that say "fresh annual".
Run. Run while there's still time...
