Oshkosh 2026

Is there a POA get together and if so when and where?
I suggested Sleepy Hollow in another thread. Is reasonably convenient and a little off the beaten path. 5:30 or 6:00 after the show on Tuesday?

I can grab a table like I did last year.

I'm in with a party of 4... Steve and Wayne (and Alex) will be flying up with me this year. I see irresponsible actions in someone's future.

Sorry I'll miss out on it; we host a big party Tuesday night. Have fun!

Steve and Wayne? Don’t know if Osh can handle the trio of all of you! Depending on the head count I’ll get at least one if not 2 of the big tables if I can starting at 5:30 so it would be helpful if folks will sound off if they intend to be there Tuesday evening. Look for the guy wearing a cowboy hat. For those unfamiliar, Sleepy Hollow is off Waukau nestled between Scholler’s 101 Woods on the west side and the D lot/Fly-in Theater on the east side.

I’m in for Tuesday. Bringing the same two friends from last year.

We also usually do a group photo. Historically, I thinks it’s usually 10:00 Wednesday morning at the Brown Arch.

Depending on my arrival time Tuesday afternoon, I will be there, maybe. Definitely will be at the 1000 Brown Arch Photo Op.

I always try to make these events and it seems like I always miss them. Once again, I'll try to make this one!

I'm starting to feel the anxiety! I've got to start gathering things up, charging batteries, etc. Getting real!

A little over a week until I'm wheels-up and headed NE!

So I'm tracking at least 8 and possibly 10 folks for the POA get together on Tues. Keep the RSVP posts coming!

Does “the bar” serve food?

Does “the bar” serve food?
Yes. Generally a limited bar food type menu, but it's been expanding along with the beverage offerings year after year. It's not bad and at least on par with what's available, quality wise, from SOS Bros across the street.

Plus 1 top tier lurker for sleepy hallow!

Has anyone seen the just released chapter camping locations? im nervous my new favorite spot out by lot S may be taken. Oh well!
:dunno:

Just for future reference, the link to request a mailed paper copy of the NOTAM/NOTICE was removed from the website very recently, around 9 days before opening day.

My plane is now clean and shiny as she got her annual pre-Osh bath. All that’s left to do is get my IFR slot, load up, and launch. We’ll load up almost everything Thursday evening for an early Friday morning departure.IMG_0721.jpeg

Lol, I just posted how goofy I am cleaning my plane before 6 hours of flying and then parking it outside for a week… but it’s done! IMG_0858.jpeg

I just noticed that the Red Arrows have the same flight line they use for the Blue Angels... this sucks if you're camping in Vintage and you're out past that line. You won't be able to sit at your plane and watch the show. They will pull the crowd back behind the light poles, which also puts the crowd into a much smaller area.

Anyone know what unique things are going to be here this year? A couple years back, the U2 was flying, I think year before last, a super guppy.
The mars water drop was cool. I can't find anything online about any special aircraft to expect in 26.

Seems odd they would push the line into the parking area. Trying to recall if in the past I have seen planes beyond the line. I feel like there are always people watching from under their wings.

I'm not tracking any performers or static displays that haven't been there before except the Red Arrows. NASA's bringing a 250 themed F-15 and F-18:

Super Guppy was coming, but it got damaged in a storm.
Red Bull is brining their P-38 and DC-6B, both are pretty amazing.
Delta is bringing an Airbus with a USA paint scheme on it. (Not sure why an Airbus!)
Southwest is bringing Independence One

The normal parking line is that red highlighted area. The line for the Red Arrows is essentially the light poles that dissect the parking area. They will still park planes there and on days when the Red Arrows aren't performing, the crowd will be allowed up to the top of that area, by the taxiway.

4547 needs to bring the new bird!
I'm sure that would never happen due to security concerns, but a low pass would be pretty cool!

As Jack pointed out, this is the same flight line as for the blue angels. This is an established practice at this point. I hate it. If this is the cost of having teams like this, skip them.

Seriously? What's another 100 feet (is it even that much?) off the flightline for the short time they're performing? I'd love to see the Blues or the Thunderbirds come in. Seems like a missed opportunity to not do it this year. OSH is usually the only airshow I get to go to.

I've been responsible for shooing people back behind the "bird line" (i.e., the speaker poles) during the jet performances. The planes and tents can stay, but all the general crowds need to be behind the poles. Even the orange and green vested people can only be another ten feet in front of the poles (essentially the space for driving the convertibles with the previous airshow performer down the line). We've already been briefed on this for this years on our prep zoom calls.

The Blues and T-Birds effectively mess up SnF too. They run you out of portions of the campgrounds. I'd rather have vintage, antique, or experimental fly-by's than any of the jet teams. The jet teams are there to bring in people from Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Madison. The regular cast of EAA attendees doesn't pay them much attention.
