I should have known better than to allow my iDevices to upgrade automatically.

iOS 26.2 loaded on both my iPad and my iPhone. Not happy.

So different in the user interface, and it is much more complicated to use. All my favorites gone from phone. Too many clicks to do things, and really distracting when I am driving.

And this is the inevitable release of iOS that renders my iPad substantially slower in operation, even though Apple always claims they don’t do this.

Experiences?

I've been bitching about it for 6 months. I can even deal with the new interface, but it blows my mind how unpolished it feels.

No problems with iPadOS26, although getting used to windowing was a bit funky.

No problems with iOS26 but, then again, it's my first iPhone so no real basis for comparison. For the car, I use Apply Play and I actually like it a little better than Android Auto even though Waze doesn't work quite as smoothly when using voice commands to find a route.

It made my iPad (Mini 5) slower, especially Safari. There is a noticeable lag when typing in the search bar, and when Safari launches, I need to wait for four to five seconds before typing, or the first three letters are cut off. Foreflight is slower, too. And I absolutely hate the folders for groups of apps being that (“liquid glass” they call it) shimmery clear look.

I’m with you Spike. I don’t care for the UI but I will probably adapt after a month or so and be business as usual…..but…
I have found that it struggles to open some websites/load errors that never occurred in previous OS versions. I have an electronic target system that has its own IP address and is accessed by a smart device or PC wirelessly. On my iPad Air and my iPhone, I will frequently disconnect and I have to ‘forget the network’ and reload it each time that happens. Another fellow competitor is having the same issue in the last few days so it appears to be related to the OS. I’m no longer going to allow updates when the system is running fine as is.

which electronic target system? just want to know if shotmarker could have the same problem.

but I don't fix software the ain't broken. software doesn't break just because a newer version is available.

Allan Dye, the man responsible for this mess, and a lot of his team have left for Meta. His replacement has good design sense so hopefully the abomination that is Liquid Glass will be reverted in the next release.

Sounds like every other operating system update for every other platform. More bloat, more bling, more attack surface, slower. At least Messages seems buggy now. Maybe if they rewrite everything in Swift...

The UI is meh, but the bigger functional problem is wifi connectivity. Many users (and I’m one of them) cannot maintain a reliable wifi connection, despite the wifi canopy showing full signal strength.

I’ve turned off wifi calling, wifi assist, handoff, even reset network settings, but when it randomly hiccups, every 3-5mins it’s a manual turn off wifi/turn on wifi to re-establish the connection. Then there’s the occasional challenge even connecting to a network.

Unsat and seems to be specific with 26.2.

Try this:

Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency (turn it on)

A YouTube I watched said all the transparency takes up a noticeable amount of processing power and eats the battery quicker. I did it and haven’t had any issues with iOS 26.

I absolutely hate the new OS. I have experienced major issues and ended up wiping my iPhone and reloading everything just to get it functional.

I have a completely useless bar that has an up/down arrow on the left side and a check mark on the right that will make the bar go away. But only until the next keystroke.

They added more settings and I stopped getting notified when I received a new message.

I have my settings set to ignore unknown callers. Yet every unknown caller rings through.

My upgrade stopped face recognition from working. It was almost impossible to restore, couple of days of fiddling before it would accept a new face scan. Which then worked exactly once, before it stopped working again.

Will not upgrade for the foreseeable future.

Yes, ShotMarker. I put in an email to Adam, who is usually responsive to possible issues, concerning what I am seeing. I've got a dinosaur Samsung tablet I bought specifically for Silver Mountain/Shotmarker use and I may have to revert. However, the match I am testing loads for is using good old pull targets/pit duty. It does frustrate my testing at the local range.

mmmm, sometimes the not-so-smart tablets/phones get confused by no internet available.

What happens if you turn off any data plan?

I tried turning off cellular data and no joy. However, when the message of ‘no internet connection available’ comes up on the SM network, it no longer gives me the option to ‘use without internet’ since the update. There may lie the issue.

Anyone figure out how to force the flash on the camera?
Used to be able to, now it’s just Auto or Off

The joke is that when he left Apple for Facebook the IQ went up at both companies.

Not at all happy with latest update,I can live without facial recognition.
