Most expensive avgas you've seen?

It’s about 10 bucks down here in PR. St Thomas is a little cheaper, but I’m grateful that my bonanza can burn mogas and all of the gas stations here sell ethanol free. It would be pretty unaffordable to fly otherwise.

Someone on Reddit was surprised at how cheap avgas was in Canada, he was seeing prices in the $2.79 CDN (US $2.00) and couldn't figure out why.

$10/gal, THIRTEEN YEARS AGO, Atlanta Hartsfield.

I saw mine at PHKO. Kind of cheating since im sure it's expensive tknget a avgas out to Hawaii.

Was quite startling though. Apparently mogas rules GA there.

It was, and everyone else was quick to point it out to the wannabe Gimli Glider pilot.

Havnt paid over 8.75, but it’s going up . Most places charging over 8 dollars pump it.

Well... that and the fact securing aircraft insurance down there is also a bit of a scavenger hunt. I can't afford to fly uninsured, $10/gas is chump change by comparison.

On Thursday paid $10.59/gal at RDU (Signature) plus a landing fee

$5.86 at the home drome. Pretty much the cheapest around for now.

Today I dumped my last cheap gas in that I brought back from 8GK a few weeks ago at 4.49 gal. I can carry 2-5 gal fuel jugs in the cargo area.
I haven't been flying that much lately but hope to change that here soon. Flew 1.5 this morning, felt good.

BUU, known for being the cheapest around just dropped from 5.99 to 5.69. So there's hope on the horizon. I can still find old prices a little cheaper.

Paulding Airport (ATL area) is $6.79 self serve.

What was the landing fee?
Honestly I don’t remember. This was a contract pilot trip and I left the receipt in the plane (owner’s CC). It wasn’t a huge fee, but just one more cost to hinder GA.

$13.75 at SJC, even SFO is cheaper

I will be amazed if SJC isn’t the most expensive in the country, but you’re a little behind the curve. Although Signature is selling AvGas for the bargain price of $13.75/gallon, Atlantic is up to $14.61 now.

for those who use mogas do you fill from 5 gallon cans, on the field, slip tanks? None of the fields i have been to have it.

I have a 100 gallon tank, 12V pump and long hose in bed of my pickup. Sometimes I use it for Avgas to hedge up coming price increases,
It is the perfect solution for Mogas, imo.
I also use it for premium gas for when I am towing out of town help protect against octane fraud out on the highways. Happened to me more once.

I am considering doing that. Gas is $1 less in Idaho about 15 miles away [wa taxes]. If I buy enough makes economic sense.

I have done that a few times over the years. Hauled fuel home from a airport in my truck because it was cheaper than at home.

I have a 300 gallon tank on wheels I keep in my hangar. Last fall I paid $3.25 for gas, had it filled the other day for $4.01, I was kinda surprised it was that cheap

How do you keep that much gas from going stale?

I use that much every 3-4 months. Going stale has never crossed my mind…….

It was actually end of December that I filled up for $3.25…….

Stabil works really well. I double-dose it and it keeps ethanol gas useable for more than a year. I have some gas that is close to a year and a half old.

Kind of off subject but I have seen stabilized non-ethanol cause problems in a year. One was a watercraft other a small kids motorcycle. Never seen that until this spring. New fuel cured both of them, no other changes. Think it might be related to both having vented systems and the light hydrocarbons evaporated off, but its never happened before. Working on a 3rd vehicle [a car] that runs bad. Again, 1 year old stabilized non ethanol. Can't say what is going on with it yet.

Winter blends in summer will cause issues. Winter blends have butane blended into them for easy starting. A year in the tank will ensure all that butane is gone, resulting in hard to start engines. Trying to run a summer blend in winter will also cause starting issues.
A shot of starter fluid fixes things in both situations.
