Linseed oil has many uses. I've used it to restore and preserve wood stocks of vintage firearms. And I use it to lube the spoke/nipple threads when building bicycle wheels. Initially, the oil lubricates the threads to facilitate the build process. Later (after the wheel is built and in service) it gels into a paste that acts as a gentle thread lock to prevent spokes from loosening.Often used for wood finishing.

Boiling is how they originally increased the drying rate, but it has to be heated dangerously close to the flash point, so they started adding drying agents (mostly heavy metals if you’re into knowing about those) instead to make it dry more rapidly.Do you need linseed oil that was boiled or the product sold in stores named, "Boiled Linseed Oil?" Most modern 'Boiled Linseed Oil' products don't use linseed oil that was boiled... Supposedly, it might make a difference in longevity. Maybe.
