Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Boss calls a meeting.
"Alright everyone, new schedule. Mondays we recover from the weekend. Tuesdays we get ready for work. Wednesdays we work. Thursdays we relax from working. Fridays we get ready for the weekend. Any questions?"
A guy raises his hand.
"Yeah, how long this BS with Wednesdays is gonna continue?"

I used to work with a guy like that.

Every day:
1: it’s pretty early, I’m still working on my coffee, give me a bit
2: OK, let’s go
3: about an hour later - it’s getting awful close to lunch
4: I just ate lunch, give me a bit
5: OK, let’s go
6: about an hour later - it’s getting awful close to quitting time

#2 and #5, he was good for about 2 hrs of work each day. But, that guy was one of the old-school engineers that learned his craft in the US Navy in WW II in whatever electronics he was buried in. He could do all the RF math in his head. A lot of the young EEs found it way faster to just ask him something instead of breaking out the calculators. That ability alone made him a legend.

On the DMV’s I just go to my counties courthouse where they have a lady in the main office who walks over to a small, barley bigger than a closet office to do the tests and take the picture, zero appointments, zero wait time. But I did once have to call into the state DMV office and was treated with an automated answering system putting me on hold with a “current estimated wait time 4 hours 53 minutes….”

That woman is obviously not in Iran:
There is a required dress code for women in Iran, and it remains legally mandatory as of early 2026.Under Iranian law (rooted in the Islamic Penal Code, particularly Article 638), women and girls must wear a hijab (headscarf covering the hair) and modest, loose-fitting clothing in public that covers the body appropriately—typically leaving only the face and hands visible. This includes covering the hair completely, arms, and legs, while avoiding tight or revealing garments. This requirement has been in place since shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and has not been legally abolished. Claims that Iran has fully ended the mandatory hijab are inaccurate, as confirmed by rights groups, fact-checks, and official sources.

France? Italy? Spain? Greece?

are people being short-sighted?

Fourth grade...teacher picks on a likeable but slow kid and wants them to use the word "clearly" in a sentence. He just froze up. Someone felt sorry for him and started whistling that tune from the back of the class. In about 3 seconds the class starts singing along. The 20 something teacher tried to yell at everybody but she couldn't hold it together and it fell into laughter.

Still funny to me many, many years later.

Back on topic, but I think it peripherally related.
