Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

The USAF is "showcasing" an Air Tractor with hard points (the "new" OA-1K).
...
Not that it isn't neat . . . but it is 47-year old tech.
The box that carries the tech is 47 years old (not really, but to your point), the tech inside that box is much newer.

Nauga,
who can teach an old dog new tricks

It's sad that the USAF bragging about something lands in the joke category.

I'll suggest a slogan: What if George Custer had 2 of these? But I wouldn't want to be the one that suggested that for the first time the AF has fielded an aircraft designed primarily to attack people that are not members of any national armed forces. Well, primarily designed to spray crops, but re-purposed by changing the target type a little bit.

Maybe we've just decided that we haven't fought a first world air force since 1953, so why worry about it? In which case I'd suggest we start looking at PC-9's for the fighter role. Put some AIM-9's on it and it'll be fine. We can save a LOT of money if we're deciding we're too afraid to fight in Europe anymore.

If we're fighting someone that can't shoot down that thing, we shouldn't be in that fight, in my opinion. It's not a funny airplane unless your humor is really, really dark. Along the lines of - should we suggest they put sirens on it so it makes a loud noise in a dive?

On the other hand, whomever came up with this kinda makes Curtis LeMay look a bit like Mr Rogers. Now that's funny right there.

All in jest, of course, I'm sure this will save us from whatever it is we need saving from these days. Put it together with an old GM motorhome.

Maybe it’s going to be for export?

He'd probably have left them behind, like the three gatling guns he decided he didn't need for the battle of Little Bighorn.

Or he would have destroyed them to create bulwarks, like he did with the horses.

They are and a lot more helicopters as well. I’ll be retired when that happens. Can’t wait to brain dump all the crap I had to memorize
The littlest thing will pop up when you least expect it. You might want to try a …..

That hits close for the Geezer.

So far, just close, and a near miss is as good as a mile, as the Army taught us on the range.

I ain’t that old but i recently learned i ain’t 19 no more either. Started getting back in shape and thought i’d start playing basketball again. I played up to college level many moons ago. First day, muscle memory kicked in quickly so shots were falling, ran some drills and had way too much fun. So i went back the next day, and the next day, and after day 4, my knees were shot. Couldn’t bend them, pain, swelling. IT WAS BAD. Rested a few days and things went back to normal. i’m at 2-days-per-week-playing-basketball age i figured. lol.
