How To Lose Weight

Diet? :(

Ugh...

Far easier to be disciplined 1 hour a day than the other 23.

Now for my brownie sundae....

(I rode 22 miles today, half at 15 MPH in 30MPH headwind, half at 35 MPH with a tailwind).

:D

Sure! ;)

Lets see, Gary F is the guy that has kidney stones, high blood pressure, takes viagra, has broken numerous FAA regulations, takes prozac, and had a vasectom all in the last 60 days.:rofl::rofl:

Is it possible there is more than one "Unregistered" POA member?

Sorry man, my warped sense of humor is like champagne, it is an acquired taste. ;)

I got it. I only have half of those problems, you get to guess which of them I have. I was just explaining why I was unregistered.

Hell right it counts! I'm still looking for that 199.9 : ) Great Job!

WOOOOTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went shopping for jeans a few weeks ago and found that I now have a 33" waist, down from 42" last October. I think the last I was that small was in the 1970s.

The reason I didn't recognize you right off the last time I was in Philly was it didn't look like you at all. You've undergone massive morphogenic change, and I am proud of you (so long as you don't start sprouting extra arms or anything).

What I'll tell the amazing people who have so successfully re-made themselves, is the hardest part that takes the most disciple is maintenance.

But light beer is SOOOO not worth it! Liz and I are planing on running in the morning so I should have plenty of calories for the good stuff....

It's not easy passing up all the junk food that is available here at work. My morning snack is celery.

That is AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think of all the increased useful load in the airplane :D:D:D:D

I've increased the airplane's useful load by 53 lbs. :D

One of my best successes is turning down free food. One of the many ways I've kept my girlish figure. We rarely eat out, and when we do we often take home half.

I've unfortunately got to stop drinking, which will be even harder than giving up deserts, which I did recently. I like to drink. One of the things I got from my father, along with the antique Swiss pocket watch that's in pieces at a friend's shop.

62 lbs here. Makes a big difference in performance.

Pretty soon you are going to be the 'FAA standard adult' that all of these planes are designed around .
When is the last time you saw one of those? It would be a great goal but if I achieve it somebody might think I'm on a hunger strike and tube feed me against my will.

The other day I finally came in under 160 again. When I was 198 at my last medical I decided to do something.

The answer I found was simply 'quit eating so much', walk away from a 3/4 full plate if you're not hungry. Ensure is a very high value way of maintaining nutrition throughout the day. For about $7 a day you have 3 between meal drinks and you maintain the nutrition while reducing the meal intakes; increasing the frequency of meals combined with good nutrition causes the metabolism to shift into a fat burning mode and I lost a bunch of weight in 6 months, the bulk of it in 6 weeks.

I have not been going to the gym, my newest thing is to walk / jog 30 minutes at work (I've been here two years almost, never took a break or a lunch or much vacation). Everyone else goes to lunch for hours, we are all salary, I work so late for "free" why not let myself take a break? I just started (and bring a change of clothes) but Sausalito is gorgeous and there is a walking path on the water. I brought free weights to work as well for when I'm on the phone but I'll admit they have sat in a pile. Sad to say since 6Y9 I don't weigh the same and Wings is coming too soon to fix that. I refuse to buy new clothes (that's my motivation). I am trying to drink less alcohol, more water, and get more sleep. That and standing instead of sitting when possible, and all those other little things. Of course eating better too.

Beer is the diet killer, grain alcohol is ok.

Yes it was beer. And wine. And the more beer you drink, the more you can tolerate. I would say that I can "try" vodka but I'd rather just cut out booze except for weekends. It makes a huge difference that I can see right away. I will admit, however, that losing at 33 is a lot harder than in my 20's. I was "good" for the past two weeks and I've barely seen 2 pounds go away. So much work and just one day of screwing up (like I had on Sunday at a party) can throw two weeks down the drain.

Do both, start drinking Greyhounds on the weekends. Find "Indian River Grapefruit Juice", it is unlike and far superior to any other grapefruit juice on the market. Super good stuff for beating colds and such. First sign is I get 2*2L jugs of it and slam it in the course of the rest of the day and I wake up the next fine the vast majority of the time. If you can't get that, Florida's Natural is next followed by Tropicana Premium. You drink those tall as a single and you'll do pretty good, even a tall double shouldn't be worse than neutral.

They have calories. If I have hard booze, I'll do rum with a diet coke or just drink burbon straight.

Trust me, the grapefruit juice helps burn fat and provides nutrition you need, it's like have a meal serving of fruit with your booze. The object is not to limit all calories, the object is to limit the less beneficial calories to your anabolic metabolism and provide a constant metered dose of good ones. When you have small meals many times a day your body builds muscle because it sees plenty of nutrition. When you go with limiting calories (energy) and nutrition at the same time, your body goes into 'famine mode' and builds fat reserves out of all spare calories. When you're in this state, exercise does very limited good.

BTW, diet drinks are the devil to diets.

Any morning we are there, if we make in in Friday Night then, Sat morning and Sun morning...

I can see it now. The POA girls are going running, the POA guys are following... ;)

Oh LOL I meant a beer run, not actually running. But I guess I could run with you for like a hundred yards or so.

Well my knees aren't up to running but I can walk pretty fast for long distances.

Though I remember a marine telling me once...."running just means you'll die tired."

YeeHaw Missa!

Likewise. I can do 4-5 miles/hour for a 5-10 mile stint. I can't really run or jog. I do bike, though.... it's really convenient to have the Fairfax Cross County Trail about a quarter mile from the house.

Many fruit juices are chock full of sugar, not good for weight loss. I have consumed a ton of artificial sweetener in order to deal with my former sugar addiction and it seems to have worked.

Well, some females do.

The other day, I came upon my parachute and skydiving suit from 20 years ago. The equipment was sized for 175lbs and I don't remember myself as exceptionally skinny. Then again, I biked 30miles/day to school and spent my money on skydiving and travel rather than food.

There is a reason I specified Grapefruit juice rather than orange or other.

I have heard of the mystical weight loss property of grapefruit but have never experienced it myself. I am too afraid of sugar to try.

I have lost considerable muscle mass compared to my Army days. Getting old stinks.
