How much do you tip your pilots?

I feel like my landings keep getting better and better but I'm just not seeing the kind of tips that I expected to in this gig.

I mean full transparency I haven't gotten any. Am I doing something wrong?

Right before we land I do try to tactfully remind all of the passengers that if not for me they'd be stuck up there and I'm the reason they're getting down safely.

I do the whole "Bu-bye" thing and sometimes even go so far is to remind him that they tip their waiters 20% and all they did was bring food someone else cooked. I literally just saved their lives. But nothing.... How do we capitalize on tip culture?

I mean if there's anybody you should be tipping.. come on.

It used to be a whole lot easier when they were sitting right next to you probably because they felt like they didn't have a choice.

Also I love AI imagery and looking for the flaws. I'm glad it got the red light on the left side but the partial jet bridge gate in the middle of the plane behind the wing...

Wrong job for tips, unless you’re one hell of a dancer.

Shoulda gone 135—that’s where the tips are. (That’s my tip.)

Ya wanna tip. Howsa ‘bout Lucky Dan on the third at Riverside..

I'm sure you meant to put that whole OP in green.

But I get where you are coming from. The whole "tip solicitation" culture has gotten completely out of hand. I always used to gladly tip very well, AFTER the service has been provided (at the usual places where tipping is appropriate). Now when I see that ipad tip request, even before my order is completed, when I order a cup of coffee at the counter I usually select "none" or the minimum suggestion. I had a plumber hand me an Ipad to sign off on his work, and a payment form, with tip request popped up after the signature. A PLUMBER? He probably makes more than my doctor.

Tip? You want a tip? Here’s yer tip, kid: Go to Santa Anita - bet on Pork Chops to place in the third! You’re welcome!

Depends on the landing. Sometimes I give a tip like “former Navy eh?” after a particularly solid landing.
Actually, I think his spurs interfered with the rudder pedals. And if a female, maybe her high heels.

What kind of M.C. Escher ass luggage handle
I think it's clever that only a portion of the handle leaves a shadow - that's gotta be better than Escher.

But what about that white vehicle on the right? Maybe the airport needs to collect tips for its security staff to promote better results, since thieves seem to be roaming about stealing wheels.

In 1990, I flew Grand Canyon tours out of the Las Vegas airport formally known as McCarren. Since we were doing tours, we'd occasionally get tips. Not many. Not often.

Many of our passengers were foreign tour groups, often from Asian countries. I once had an Asian passenger tip me on the ramp at the GCN airport. It was windy, and the wind blew the bill out of his hand. He takes off running after it on the crowded ramp with many propellers spinning. That could have ended quite badly. Luckily, he caught it before anything caught him.

In my current job, I've only had a passenger attempt to tip me once. It was a mother I had helped in the concourse. Her young daughter had left her iPad in the airplane and they had tracked it down, with the find my device feature, to a stairwell that wasn't accessible to the public. I went in and retrieved it. She tried to tip me $20. I declined and told her to give it to the next service person she meets who does a good job.

I had one owner that would give each pilot a $100 bill at the end of each trip, sometime $200 if it was several days or a long day. He also tipped the line personal, usually $20 but sometimes $100.

If you slam it in doing a ‘please stay seated while captain kangaroo hops the plane to the gate’ landing, can we get a negative tip?

My brother has a regular charter customer at his gig who gives each of the crew members $1000 in cash each trip. Pretty nice. Then I remember I have an actual schedule and a 18% direct contribution to my 401k.
