Finally got my own T-hangar (no power, light, heat, etc)! I need to get some gear. So far it's :
- Generator
- Flood lights
- Space heater
- Work table
- Chairs

What am I missing?

Congrats on the hangar. In some places that are very difficult to find.

My two preferred airports each have a 5-year waiting list. I did manage to score one at an acceptable airport after only a few months wait. I am fortunate to have electric and nice ceiling lights.

I need to add some “stuff.” I already have chairs, a small rug and some storage boxes. Need a small space heater and a simple workbench. I also have a small air compressor and a trickle charger (for the car I leave there when my plane is at another airport in nice weather).

When I had the T hangar at CJR it had in it:

Some shelves.
Refrigerator reclaimed from the Independence Air liquidation auction
Our old dining room table
A love-seat sized sofa bed.
Air Compressor
Tool box

The current hangar has:

Two workbenches and four storage cabinets
Big ass air compressor
Dust collector for the adjacent woodshop
Four post car lift.
Sectional sofa bed
15' long dining room table
About 16 random folding tables
50 or so folding chairs
Two rolling tool boxes
Parts Cabinet
Some other random shelves

It also has two big-ass fans, two minisplits, radiant floor heat (off my geothermal system), a trolley that runs along the exposed I-beam with a 3 ton chain hoist, five ellipsoidal projector stage lights, the drill-powered tow bar, and the GEM car that I used as a tug.

You win!!

After 7 years I have a nicely equipped T hangar that fully supports my 172 and my buddy's Arrow.

But it's only a rented T hangar with electric and lights.
I have temp heat in there.
It's my man cave.

Well, the hangar is attached to my house. I live on an airpark.

Yer gonna need to step up the game on that lawn! It's unacceptable.

It looks much better. These shots were taken by the architect's photographer right about the time construction was finished and the grass hadn't fully grown in. We used one of these for our Xmas cards one year and my wife made me photoshop the grass greener.

We have 2 little patches of weeds/grass in front of our hangars. The whole airport has many acres of fields all full of every kind of weed known and a little grass if any.
In the last 7 years I have tried to keep those patches of grass weed free but it is tough. I guess because there tons of weed seeds getting blown around through out the season. And the lawn cutting crew is mixing in weeds from the rest of the place when they cut it.
I have used commercial sprays, granule ferts. It would need to be sprayed about every week or 2 at the most to keep killing the weed seeds. Sowed plenty grass seed over it also during the spring and fall. Have sprayed late winter and early spring to kill the crab grass seeds. Then by August the crab grass is back growing like crazy. It's a battle. lol

Would they let you put some solar panels on the roof?

It will cost a few thousand, but some panels, batteries, control box with an inverter, etc. could give you enough amps to run some overhead LED shop lights, TV, sound system, continuous power to a wi fi system for a ring type security camera and other wi fi devices, and maybe enough to keep a mini fridge running.

You could also put in a propane bottle vented ceiling mounted heater.

If you needed amps for a work bench, AC, etc. then you could run the generator while you're there.

Not sure who that is directed to, but we now have 33KW of solar panels on the roof of the hangar and the higher roof adjacent. This is in addition to a geothermal heat pump system. There's also an 80KW backup generator.

Also (hard to see in that picture but if you click thorugh to the album), the area infront of the hangar ramp and driveway is "grasscrete." It has holes in it that grass grows in which helps with the water running down that taxiway (the asphalt). It also delineates our property from the taxiway right of way (we tell people NOT to only park on the solid concrete).

Definitely a solar/batt/inverter setup and a shedload of conduit to run outlets everywhere. My hangar-shaped prepper shack has been one of my favorite projects in recent memory, and turning on the lights on the hangar at night makes it feel very worthwhile :D
