Ghost of Kiev

So far I have only seen this on social media and the original video turned out to be from a video game.
I am going to guess this is all made up.

I saw a meme (that I shan't post here) that the Ghost of Ukraine not only shot down 6 Russian jets, but he also flew to Moscow and had sexual relations with the wives of Putin and all his generals.

So I was reading about this Ocean 6 Multipurpose Delivery System this morning after Russia’s Deterrence Forces were elevated to some special battle status.

US intelligence believes this Ocean 6 is a 100MT torpedo that would create a 500m tall tsunami type, radiated wave to attack the coastline (of - name the target. Launched from a sub).

This guy is frustrated. He’s going to escalate. I hope there is something in his arsenal between conventional and doomsday.

I’m totally dumbfounded over here. Naive midwestern kid.

As a Cold War border pilot that was certified to fly in the 1k zone…there are some pretty heavy memories flushing up over this whole deal…Nuclear forces going on alert causes a whole new level of anxiety…our unit secondary mission was escorting tactical nukes shuttled to Artillery units on CH-47’s…
Only history will let us know if the Ghost is real if full or partial…I can’t imagine any fighter pilot not strapping on a mission ready Aircraft and not trying…

The videos may not be legit, but the former prez of Ukraine says the pilot is very much real. So crediting an incorrect video to the Ace doesn’t necessarily mean the Ace doesn’t exist.

100% true or not these stories arise from situations like this, always have and always will…

Factual or not a hero like this can really help the peoples resolve. I’m quite confident our list of hero’s has some embellishments too, if this is even an embellishment and not just a case of true story wrong pics/video.

Captain Colin Kelly comes to mind. Definitely a hero, but at the time, was given credit for a lot more (i.e., sinking the Haruna).

I can neither confirm nor deny that that was a fun mission. Of that I am sure(ity).

when one video I saw had the ghost of Ukraine flying a F22 was a big red flag. If people are gonna make stuff up at lease get the aircraft right.

She's a busy girl.

I suspect that most people today don’t read…if it’s not video, it’s going unnoticed. Since a lack of actual combat video exists, the videographers find a substitute to tell their story.

As to whether this pilot is real or not, I have no idea…I don’t watch a lot of videos, so I only know what I’ve read here. ;)

I'm quite sure it does. I'm also sure, though, that there are many more heros who deserve recognition yet never received it.

I have no doubt you are 110% correct on that!

Apparently the ghost was real, a former flanker display pilot (not mig 29) and was KIA on Friday after he got his seventh kill.

Colonel Oleksandr “Grey Wolf” Oksanchenko was his name.
From what I have read about the pilot known as grey wolf, he does not appear to be the ghost. Two articles I read made no mention of the ghost when talking about the wolf and another one even had this to say:

“The online rumor mill has already started to wonder aloud if the “Grey Wolf” could have been the same man as the pilot now known online as the “Ghost of Kyiv,” but while there’s little evidence to suggest the Ghost is real, there’s even less to substantiate the idea that Oksanchenko was this pilot of modern folklore.”

I wouldn’t believe a word Russia or the Ukraine is saying right now.

All of you are wrong ... the Ghost of Kiev is a POA pilot ;)

Waiting for everyone to start claiming it like in the Banderas Zorro movie where everyone claims to be Zorro:)

I have long felt there has to be a market for a news service that focuses on getting a full and accurate story rather than getting the headlines out first. I don’t care if it’s a week old, I’m not in any position to be directly impacted or make any decisions so I’m happy to wait on the full and accurate story.

You would think there'd be a big market for something like that, and our country would benefit from the existence of something like that. I'm beginning to suspect, though, that the majority of people who read or watch the news are no longer attempting to learn what is happening around them and are just trying to experience the adreneline high from jumping on the latest sensationalized bandwagon.

I'm not sure you could ever publish anything if you had to be 100% sure it was 100% accurate.

That would be called history books, which also are not always accurate. News is all about the “first draft of history” and typically it is a very rough draft. And due to the rush to be first or not to get scooped, it is often full of rumors, conjecture, partial truths, and outright intentional misinformation (lies). But once in awhile they do get the first stab in the dark right and can sleep at night. Maybe they always sleep soundly but I know I couldn’t if I wasn’t putting out the truth. But my name isn’t Tucker or the like.

You could argue the first article about the AN-225 met your standard. It literally said it was destroyed, not harmed, and it's status was unknown, all in the same article. Not sure what good that did anybody, but there ya go.
