When did Seattle move to Colorado? It's been raining non-stop for 2 days, and not forecast to end for a week or so. Even snowed in the mountains today.

At least I didn't wash the car yesterday.

Yes, the weather is horrible in Seattle. Here's a shot of Mt. St. Helens during a flight from Seattle to Portland on Saturday. That's Mount Adams a little to its left.

Navigated by volcanoes all the way... Baker and Rainier to St. Helens and Adams, then Hood and Three Sisters...

By the way, Gaaagghh is better when it's served still alive.

It has rained here on and off with low ceilings since Friday evening. Not supposed to clear up until next weekend.

I got cocky in a brief "clear-er" window yesterday and hiked down to the Chattahoochee river that's a a little over a mile from our house by trail. I thought I had plenty of time before a line of thunderstorms hit. My estimate was they would take 2 hours to get here. They got here in under an hour and a half, which was exactly the amount of time it took for my hike. On the way back to the house, my phone buzzed with a NWS warning of a severe line of t-storms headed my way soon. Checked the radar app, and soon was correct. I ran (as much as I could - not much) got to the house, grabbed the car key and moved my car under the shelter of some trees (hail inbound).

It started raining in the 20 seconds between when I entered the house and when I walked out to move the car.

Forecast is for 80F (SEA) on Wednesday. In any given year, there is a 50% chance of "June Gloom," when actual summer weather does not roll in until July fifth.

Several years ago (more than two decades, actually) when I was living in Colorado, I had a week-long business trip to Seattle. Since I had a day off, I contacted a CFII and arranged a flight so I could get some of the flyable cloud time so rare in Colorado. Of course, it turned out to be a day like the one in your photo.

[yes, definitely best served live]

Sometimes I wonder if "Seattle weather" is a myth perpetrated by the natives to control inbound migration.

Nearly certain it's not any worse than Albany weather at any time of the year, but equally sure they have more hippies so I'm good here.
