https://wflanews.iheart.com/feature...-tampa-this-weekend-could-cost-you-big-bucks/ Does this warning of a $225,000 fine seem a little outrageous? I understand they want to keep the usual morons away from the zoomy Air Force jets, but where did they get the idea to come up with this amount? I doubt the FAA could get that kind of money out of an uninformed recreational drone driver...
I doubt if MacDill is authorized to speak for the FAA and to make statements on how the FAA would respond. They definitely cannot tell a drone operator what they can or cannot do in civil airspace. Stay in your lane zoomies.
No, but the FAA does impose TFRs for airshows which is what is going on this weekend. The Blue Angels and other military aircraft will be operating at high speeds and low altitudes during the show.
The FAA imposes UAS restricted areas inside UAS operating areas. "UAS Restricted Area is National Defense Airspace. UAS Operations Prohibited. POC: Watch Commander (812) 296-5000" "NOTAM UAS Operating Area HUF_10/310 DEFINED AS 7.5NM RADIUS OF 385109N0864815W (13.4NM SE BMG) SFC-1200FT AGL DLY SR-SS 202110191159-202210192304."
Bored at work today so I watched Flightradar24 of the MacDill show. Interesting, everyone showed up on it except the F-22 and the Blues. I know they (BA1,5,6) used to squawk during the show because I would watch them on radar. Guess they don’t anymore.
