Favorite eatery?

champys2-jpg.48957

Dang it! I'm hungry (and thirsty) now! Even with the coleslaw there.

McDonalds, where's the love. :D
I will second that, but only when the McRib is available (limited time only!). Of all the sandwiches that feature a patty made of chopped and pressed pork parts shaped to resemble a tiny rack of ribs and slathered in barbecue sauce, it's the best!!!!

If you like Flo's, try a flight up to Hesperia's Mile High Cafe. Flo's is good, but Hesperia is the best Airport cafe I've found in 40 yrs of flying.

I'll have to give the Hesperia joint a try. I'm very impressed with the restaurant at Hemet too.

Hemet and Hesperia! I'll have to give both a try! Maybe not on the same day as I might go over-gross (weight and, well...never mind)

But you have In-N-Out... What I'd do to have one of those right now.

Oooh, them's fightin' words! :D Maybe I just don't know what to order at 5 Guys, but I just like In-n-Out better. (Better than Carvers too - sorry Carvers fans.)

Shouldn't be difficult, 5 Guys has a very limited menu. Don't get me wrong, I like In-n-Out too, but it's not the out of this world place people make it out to be, and neither is 5 Guys, IMO.

I absolutely, freakin' hated Five Guys when I tried it. Burgers were tiny, didn't put the requested mustard or mayo in them, served them wrapped in foil and a paper bag.

All fine if I was grabbing them out of the AM PM hot serving section. And paying AM PM prices.

I wasn't a big fan last time I went. The burger and fries were greasy as all get out. Im an In-N-out fan as far as fast food burgers are concerned but the closest one to me is in Dallas. I envy you west coaster's ;)

I do like Inn n Out but hands down my favorite chain is Habit Burger. I think they are only in California. The next step up from them won't be a chain. Of the large national chains. It's s toss between Inn n Out and Carl''s/Hardee's, with the caveat that Inn n Out is consistent, and Carl's is not. They have their share of off locations and bad days.

Daytona/Ormond Beach area - https://www.facebook.com/FollowThe420Truck/ - best pulled pork sandwhich I've ever had

As for chains - Jersey Mike's subs are the bomb diggity bomb and I'll take a Culver's burger over 5 Guys though I don't really think either are all that.

Fort Walton Beach, FL (Eglin and Hurlburt Field) - Buffalo's Reef authentic Buffalo Wings as if you were in Buffalo, been there for as long as I can remember which was 1995 when I moved there

If I'm ever in the St Louis area I can eat a whole IMO's pizza by myself :D

Ate there twice. Never went back. Nuff said.

Thought you were parked Norman.

I tried a Farmer Boys burger a few weeks ago. Not impressed.

I almost got there.

Well they did me and when I asked why they reinstated me saying it was something you posted about Monica and I was parked by mistake.

Taco place near the Hotel Coronado (San Diego) - it's inside a a walk-in, but out-door, little mall, across the street from the hotel. I've been trying to replicate their fish tacos at home. How much did I like it? I live on the east coast! And I had business in LA a while back, and took an extra day just to drive down to visit again. Plus, the hotel is way cool, and I like San Diego anyway.

Go getcha a 5 Guys, just as good plus fries better. ;)
Wrong. Wrong on so many levels.

Anchos in Riverside, CA. A few miles from KRAL. Always eat there when I'm back in Cali.
Dinosaur BBQ in Upstate NY (Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo)
Taqueria Tsunami in Marietta, GA. Asian-Mexican fusion (Korean BBQ tacos, etc)

Hemet and Hesperia! I'll have to give both a try!

The food at Hemet is good, but not great in my opinion. Hesperia on the other hand is not just good, it's great. Like Flo's, breakfast is their specialty. Lotsa' locals stop in and there can be a short wait for seating. You won't be sorry. :)

Lunch: Potbellys
Burger: David's/CJ Burgers - Locally owned chain
BBQ: Central BBQ in Memphis
Seafood: Chesterfields in St. Maarten
Mexican: Local Lime in Little Rock
Pizza: Shotgun Dan's in Little Rock
Ice Cream: Andy's Custard
Airport: Toss between Cape G. KCGI Or Pine Bluff KPBF

Flew Down to KSPA last Saturday and tried Ike's Corner Grill (one of the Line-guys suggested). IT WAS PACKED! It's a shack off the main road about 5 minutes from the airport. Has fast and friendly wait staff and pretty darn good food! Try it sometime... Courtesy cars (be they old and may initially have a dead battery) are available... You might want to buy a gallon or two of gas to recip on the courtesy...

Another restaurant closure to report: Mile High Cafe at Hesperia!! :(:(

I flew there this morning and there was a sign on the door that said a new restaurant called The Aviator would take its place soon. Actually, Mile High will reopen somewhere across town, but will no longer be at the airport.

So I went back home to Cable and had a great breakfast there. The place is called Maniac Mike's. Transient parking is right by the orange tetrahedron, and where the DC-3 normally sits. Give it a try... friendly place! No straight-ins or straight outs; from the north enter on left crosswind over the 06 numbers for Runway 24 (most often in use).

Ice cream: Hagen Das or nothing. ;)

Hmmm... I'm a Ben & Jerry's fan (Cherry Garcia!), but Hagen Das comes in as a close second.

NOOO! I had plans to head out there based upon the recommendations from this thread. Looks like they have the new location they're moving to on their website. It's about 4.2 miles away from the airport.

Thanks for recommending Maniac Mikes at Cable... I'll have to give them a try.

Hey mscard. you're in 'Bama, have you been to Big Bob Gibsons? I used to fly in to DCU, grab a crew car, and go hit the one on 6th ave. Pretty good BBQ!
