Experiences you'd rather not have again.

Pretty good video. Still have the airplane? I met a 25is woman once who really cracked her face in a car accident but if she didn't tell you about it the scars were barely noticeable.

Kids seem to love my hook arm. It's electronic and they always ask how it works etc. My left hand is severely scarred and I can't grasp big diameters with it very well. Most drinking glasses are too big, but at least beer mugs have handles

I take back everything I said..You are hurting in those pics, much worse then me.
What happened to you to be in this spot?
Yes I do still fly that plane. At least with me I never lost anyhting but an ear and some of my head or skull, broke my back and my hands took a beating. I got tired of sliding on my face a dug my arm's and hands into the pavement to pick my head up. 400' is a long way to slide on ones face.
Again I am sorry this happened to you.

Just felt like the flu one evening at work. I went home early and about 4 hours later was unconscious. It was streptococcus pneumonia (bacterial pneumonia). The infection was severe and led to multi organ failure and my extremities began to die as my body started down only having enough blood pressure to support core organs which were also in jeprody. When I woke up, I was horribly confused for about three days and of course the amputations commenced. This is the short version of what happened but there were complications. I thought I was gonna die in the Burn Unit about three weeks after surving the coma. Then of course depression and having to face the world as a triple amputee when discharged. It's difficult to believe that was only 2009. Seems a lot longer ago.

Still drink beer, get laid, work full time, walk short distances and FLY PIC so it worked out better than my pessimism imagined.

I was totally wrong in compairing my incident with what you have gone through..Please forgive me.
I thought I had it bad when I was bitten by that spider and came down with Cellulitis. I was fine when I got in my truck. By the time I got to work, 1 mile, I could not walk. My life went to hell after that, but nothing like this.
Osteoporosis took my life from me as I know it. I can no longer work nor do much anything. I break so very very easy, broke my neck from sleeping and my back from bending over. But again nothing like what you have gone through.
Please forgive my stupid comments, you win this one, but this is one no body wants to win.
I feel like a heel for making any comments. I am sorry......
My hat goes off to you. Again you are a very strong person. Please forgive my remarks.

Don't sweat it my friend. I'm sitting at 29 years old now and hope the difficult times are behind me for good. I just had a cancer scare recently but turned out to be nothing, and almost healed up from that surgery.

Watching the Richard Pearl beheading video. That's one I wished I'd passed on.

I had one of these spinners brackets break in flight once. The spinner shifted being still attached via the lone remaining leg of the bracket causing the entire airplane to vibrate fairly violently and I though the engine was coming apart. :hairraise:

VFR day about 12 miles from an airport. After landing and shutting down it was clear what the problem was...

Dude you sound like you have the same luck as me...Not sure if the two of us should ever fly PIC and copilot...

At around the 40 hr mark. Meaning I had only been flying 40 hrs. I lost the prop and reduction unit at 1000'. Brand New Engine and Airplane with only 4 hrs on both. I landed in a corn field with corn about 2 inchs tall. It was smoother then my grass strip. But those tree's, I thought I was in the tree's.

NOTED!

Also had a complete electrical power failure after takeoff during climb-out in VFR at night with no moon. I just climbed to pattern altitude and then troubleshot the problem. Turns out I hit the master switch and not the landing/taxi light switch:redface:. They are two push/pull switches right next to each other on a C150B...

Same airplane, dragged my hot brakes through a bit of a snow drift only to find a locked wheel from ice when I landed. It broke loose without ruining the tire or losing control.

I did take pics. I will have to look and see if I put those on disc. I had them on my computer but the hard drive crashed right before x-mas.

This was on a legal Eagle with a MZ201 Compact Radial 2 stroke. After 6 engine outs in 2 strokes all before I had 70 hrs flying time. I gave up 2 strokes and ultralights. All these happened in different airplanes and engines. All but 1 was brand new and they all where ultralight's. I gave up Ultralight's. Some can fly them without any issue's, I am not one of them.

Grumman AA-1C- Had a magneto fail at about 500 feet on climb-out after takeoff 150 miles from home. As soon as the engine "burped" I cranked the airplane around staying in the traffic patern, looking for a smoke trail, still climbing. While circling the airport at 1,000 feet AGL I troubleshot the problem, found the dead mag and then landed.

After cool down the both mags worked fine which just confirmed my hunch that a coil went bad.

Luckily this was at my dad's home base airport so we pulled the mag and I flew his airplane back home that day.

After one month in coma and 5 surgeries to put my face back on.
