Experiences you'd rather not have again.

I am VERY disturbed by this simile. You are assuming a significant portion of your audience can relate to that compared experience. :nono:

Don't worry about the pain it only last one week. Make sure you have your Kotex diapers on hand to keep the blood out of your pants.

Good luck on your surgery

Bob,

At this point in time, it would behoove you to investigate your core competencies, stressing the team approach. At the end of the day, the shared values will insure a win-win. :dunno:

One time I had to come up with a mission statement for my department. I used Dogbert's Top Secret Management Handbook.

Let the pain doc wait too long to give the large, really ****ed off, soon not pregnant woman her epidural. Holy crap was that rough...

I never, ever want to have diverticulitus again. Neither does anyone else. Get the scope up the butt at 50.

Obama TFR..grrrr....but experiencing it yet again today.

Matra Bagheera. Google it.

I remember that car! Driver and 2 passengers. Fun car to look at, but...

Most European cars , at that time, were designed to keep them in certain tax categories, had lousy bodies [thin "profiled" metal and corrosion bound] and thin tires not fit for driving... It reminds me of my 1976 Renault R17 Gordini. Overall quality issues and especially electrical and brake system problems.

Next time I have a nagging back ache, I'll look at those pictures and think I'm pretty lucky.

Holy cow...what happened?

Years prior to this event I persued a cure to a bleeding disorder I fought all through grade school. It's likely one of my choices led to the above pictures nearly a decade later in 2009 when bacterial pneumonia nearly killed me.

Life is full of codices. Choose wisely.

The story of it all is coming soon. Look for Modified Flight Plan in mid 2013.

I have those pics beat..When I wrecked my bike I slid 400' down the road on my face, no helmet. I lost the right side of my face. By the time I came out of acoma I had been through 5 surgeries to put my face back on or rebuild what was left. Had my ear ripped off and my skull was ground down like I stuck my head in a grinder.
I would post pics but not sure anyone wants to see them.

I have way worse pictures than this.

Anyways I road motorcycles for the longest time but after I moved to Lincoln Nebraska I began to lose the desire, too many close calls. Sold all 4 of them after becoming a triple amputee which paid for hospital bills and prosthetics before going back to work.

You still have both hands and both feet and able to hear well?

Your injury was tramatic and mine was all dead rotting flesh ampuated post coma...

Surgery #1 Began with the surgeon coming into my room and telling me "you need to be prepared for no hands and no legs below the knees when we are done today, ok Brian?" I hoped I was going to die in surgery that day.

It ended up being 7 surgeries by the time it was all said & done.

Mine wasn't the result of an accident. I had no control over this destiny or any way to avoid it.

If you want to post pictures then please do. May want to make a separate thread. So those that don't want to see them wont. I'd be interested though. Not sure why.

Maybe you're fascinated by physiology and anatomy. I am, the pics don't bother me either. My mom is a nurse who wanted daily documentary in pictures of my progress.

I suppose - or it's proof that I don't want that to happen to me. Sorry you had that experience Brian but I've only heard of gangreen and never really saw it! Seeing it was amazing.

At two years old I was diagnosed with Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) a bleeding disorder similar to hemophilia. Fought it with steriods, chemotherapy and even surgery. I had a medical certificate revoked in high school than then regained a special issue which allowed me to finish my PPL before I graduated. Then in 2009 I ended up in the above pictures, comatose, about 4 hours after going home early from work feeling like the flu.

Life is a little different now. ;)

Let me say I did not mean anything unrespectfull in my post. That man is in bad shape and I would not want to be him...On that note...Things I hope to never repete.....

20 gallons of gas exploding in my face....Lighting a pilot light without first shutting off the gas, almost blew up the whole house, I was 12....Falling off a 75' cliff, I walked away from that without a scratch...Being hit in the back of the head with a concrete cinder block....Cutting a sheet of steel plate with a cutting torch, I was really tired and did not see my hand, I cut right over the top of it, never felt a thing for about 30 mins, I thought it blew the grease off my hand, I took off my goggles to see I blew the skin off my hand down to the bone. Motorcycle wreck.
To look at me today its hard to see any of this happened to me, I am lucky for sure.

I think we both are :yikes:

When I fell down the cliff..
We had a place in a park that had a deep ravine. Some lineman climbed a tree and put up a 200' rope that hung above this cliff. We would swing over this cliff from side to side.
One Night us kids, I was 16 decide we are going to swing in the dark. Guess whom took the first try....I panic for you only had two landing spots before you where stuck in the middle hanging over a 75' cliff. I missed the first landing and was not missing the second, but I did. I was not getting stuck hanging in the middel at night and I let go on the second landing. I went on my back head first down that cliff. I never got a scrath walked away very lucky. A couple months later a girl was killed their and someone cut the rope down.

None of my injuries were caused by tempting Darwin but I've done plenty of questionable stuff when I was "invincible" during those years.

Two tornado's.

I was driving and the weather started turning really bad. I had a couple 2 litter bottles of soda in the back seat of my car. I was down along a levie road in this valley. It was storming and raining really hard when all of a sudden these two bottles of soda exploded everywhere. I had soda dripping from the windshield. As I come up the hill out of this valley the place is wiped clean. I mean there was nothing. As I come up and I see all these people coming out of the ground from thier strom shelters. They looked like ants coming out of the ground. I was in shock.

Then I was delivering tractors for a repair center that I worked at. I was at this man's home right outside of cantrall IL. This was in the early 90's. As I am unloading this man's tractor I looked up and saw this huge, I mean huge cloud coming and it was spinning or rotating. But this cloud was so big it went to the horizon, if you did not know what you where looking at it, it looked like a big storm.
I told this man as I dropped that tractor off the trailer to take cover. He said thats a storm. I told him I have been in enough tornado's and he needs to look at that rotation. I have a date in about 2 hrs I am leaving and you better run and hide. He just stood thier. I tore out of their.
I needed to go right into this tornado, I was on route 97 and needed to go back to springfield, but I was not doing that, so I pulled out and headed away or south. I am going the same direction as this tornado and have her floored. I was running and running fast but I had a problem. I needed to take a road and that road was going to parallel this storm heading east. So I take this road, Athens black top between Williamsville and Athens IL.
This tornado that was huge was not my problem. I saw it and I was out running it, it was all the little stringer tornado's that was coming off it. They where going everywhere. The big tornado was cutting a huge path and going in one direction.
These little things scared me to death. I would have them in front of me, then on my side then behind me, I called them pencil torando's for that is what it looked like on the ground. A huge pencil had marked all over the place.
So I am moving and moving fast pulling a trailer with tractors on it. I am doing around 110 as fast as that chevy would go. I am coming up to the huge power transmission lines that cross the road and it was like these little pencil tornado's saw them when I did and as I am passing under them I am watching the towers get twisted like pretzels, I barely clear them when they go down.
After this they all headed north and I kept going east. I watched them in my mirror.

I never ever want to be in that spot again...EVER.....

I donot have pics when I tourched my hand. I have pics of my bike wreck. I have to get these from the wife, I have no idea what she did with them. When I h=get them I will post some.

post healing scars?

The pics I have are of right after I wake from coma and I had 5 surgeries to put my face back together.

Here is a video that shows what I look like today, you still see the scars if you look hard.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl6Afk9iuQ

Pretty good video. Still have the airplane? I met a 25is woman once who really cracked her face in a car accident but if she didn't tell you about it the scars were barely noticeable.

Kids seem to love my hook arm. It's electronic and they always ask how it works etc. My left hand is severely scarred and I can't grasp big diameters with it very well. Most drinking glasses are too big, but at least beer mugs have handles

Wow you guys have some stories. I keep thinking of the scene from jaws when Quint is talking about his shark scars.

I was thinking 1600VW was crazy at first then remembered I road motorcycles in high school with platelet counts in the teens due to the bleeding disorder battle...

Platelet counts that low would essentially guarantee my death from bleeding if I had a motorcycle accident. Oh the years of being invincible we're glorious
