Ever wonder how the Big Jets get their motors running?

Nothing new there except that I’ve never seen such a goofy chatty crew during engine starts before. Wow.

Somebody needs to stay away from the vending machines.

Never wondered because I've done many manual starts. Once we were doing a manual start on a DC-10 #3 and one of the ignition systems was mel'd inop. Normal start but no light off, entire ramp fogged with jet a. I knew "Start A" was on placard and asked the crew what position the ignition was in. The pilot says "oh, I'm on start A let me..." I screamed NO! Had him shut off fuel and motor to clear it. That blockhead almost incinerated us. He was just going to switch to Start B. Nice job with the engine start checklist and checking the inop items.

as someone who has never flown something burning Jet-A, I thought it was an informative video. Thanks for sharing!
