It would seem to the casual observer that we have one hothead (who likes to file lawsuits and call cops on people) reporting on an altercation between two other hotheads.

Meanwhile Bertorelli is just riding his motorcycle around the neighborhood and happy to be done with the entire industry... (probably)

And yet while some of those threads have been censored, he keeps getting worse.
And somehow still has supporters... The mind boggles.

Wish he would make some more videos about random aviation things. His dry sense of humor cracked me up
He did lots of funny stuff, but, for me, nothing will ever beat the one he did with the ever expanding number of stripes on his epaulettes.

Freakin’ comedy gold, that one was. I loved it.

There is a great irony in the fact that the person DG reminds me of the most is a retired FAA inspector from the SAT FSDO. Very much well-intentioned towards safety, definitely genuine in his beliefs, but his actions, attitudes, and behavior significantly detracted from his message and caused people to go out of their way, sometimes even in the wrong direction to avoid him.

Honestly, I feel bad for him. There's clearly something off about him. Quite possible he never dealt with the trauma of losing his wife. I hope he gets some help and is able to find some joy outside of seeking fame & attention.
It does make you wonder.

Seeing Cap'n Zoom holding Gryder accountable pegs my irony meter.
We'd probably all be much better off if those two got locked in a room with each other.

Zoom is probably just happy there's someone in the industry who seems crazier than him now.

Two men enter, one man leaves. Welcome to AviationDome!

There's are still people who trust DG. They should be shown how bad their judgment is.
Well...there is a lot of stuff available about Campbell, yet I still get emails along the lines of "I'm working with him now, and didn't expect this!" I don't disagree with online discussions about DG, as, of course, people need to know when their sources of news may have a bias. But the fact is, few people are going to do any research on their news sources, and, without personal experiences with people like DG or JC, they have trouble believing that things are as bad as have been painted.

Best thing that ever happened to aviation in this area was when that POS retired. At least with DG I can choose not to interact with him. And I don’t agree that DG is genuine in his beliefs. I think he’s found there’s more money in being the shock jock of aviation.

I’ve had a few interactions with that FAA guy including in his office and I got the impression that even though I completely disagreed with his methods and conclusions, I could never doubt his sincerity. You may be right about DG, but my interactions with him lead me to think he’s also sincere-ish, just too deluded and bull-headed to see his own faults.

And there being money involved doesn’t preclude sincerity. I think that’s a misconception. I don’t teach worse or less sincerely because I’m getting paid.

I didn't say money changes everyone, but with DG it does for sure. He's known to post about aviation accidents with no facts. In fact, many times he's completely wrong. He's not trying to make flying safer, he's trying to make a buck and does it at other peoples' expense. He's even claimed the wrong person was flying a plane because he felt like she had less experience, so it must have been her flying. He knew he had no facts, but wanted to be the first to post. Worthless human.

I make allowances for online alter egos. But this guy has enough of a track record of IRL conflicts escalating to indicate he has problems with emotional regulation and self control. Exactly the type you don't want carrying, so of course he does. Hopefully he'll lose his CCP for brandishing, which may save him or someone else from a worse event in the future.

We don’t read him the same way. I think he gets a little money off of his grift, but not all that much. I think he’d live in a sleeping bag in the back seat of an old station wagon if he believed that 3/5 of the pilot population viewed him as a a hero that changed the safety culture. Like FF, he believes he’s on a mission from God and DG wants the notoriety, not the money: that’s just a perk if he can get enough to live, and tangible evidence that some people believe and appreciate him.

You're describing a narcissist.

Which one of us claims newspapers don’t do what newspapers have been doing for hundreds of years?
You really think most daily newspapers in a medium sized or larger city is publishing all the arrests?

And before you make a fool of yourself,
The Miami Herald does not print comprehensive lists of individual arrests in the newspaper.
While arrest information is public record in Florida, the paper's crime coverage is focused on notable or significant cases, not routine arrest log.

Orlando Sentinel does not print all arrest reports. Like other major news outlets, it makes editorial decisions about which arrests to cover based on journalistic standards, not because it has a policy to publish every single one.

As of late 2025, the Green Bay Press-Gazette and other newspapers generally do not publish a comprehensive, daily list of all local arrests.

The Selma Times-JournaL,
the main newspaper for Selma, Alabama, does not regularly publish a detailed list or "police blotter" of every local arrest. Instead, it typically reports on significant or high-profile law enforcement actions.
