Also got some incredible plane spotting opportunities:

Korean Air A380. Man it's so ugly... enormous though.

Lots of others. Even saw an Asiana 777 and resisted the urge to crack a joke about their approach.

Northwestern most tip of the CONUS at sunset. I tried catching the green flash, but never saw it.

Maciej,

Now those are some cool pics! I especially like the reflection of the city lights off the underside of the wing.

We flew the Detroit Scenic Tour :)D) and then to Put-In-Bay yesterday.

Went to Stephenville for a Valentine's Day trip yesterday. Approach took us right over top of DFW on the way out and then again on the way back. This A380 used just about the entire 13000 feet of runway to get off the ground. Cool to see something like that right underneath me.

Those are amazing pictures. The other planes look like toys!!! :hairraise:

Used the opportunity of not flyable weather to browse through pictures from a previous vacation in California (March 2013). Here are some of my favorites:

We just came back from a night flight in Detroit. The flight along the Detroit River was nice.

The most awesome thing was, that Detroit Approach and Detroit Tower allowed us to do patternwork at KDTW!!! So we did a T&G and were then cleared for the option runway 3R!:hairraise::hairraise::D:D

Runway 3R was used for take-off only and Detroit Tower turned on the approach lights just for us. :yikes::yesnod: We really appreciate that they allowed us to have this experience.

Very nice video, might you be interested in doing some video for N. Fox Island Airstrip?

Thank you. And yes, I was actually already planning to film the island... :wink2:

What video camera is that?

It's a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. Frankly, though, this was the first time I filmed at night with it and was a little bit disappointed, after all the hype about its low light qualities. The video only looks acceptable (certainly not great), because I sharpened it during editing. You still don't want to put it on a large screen, though. Right out of the camera the footage was very mushy.

By the way, and I know that this is the answer to a question you did not ask, under real world, daylight conditions, the difference between a first generation GoPro HD and the 3+ Black is pretty small. For somebody who just wants to get his feet wet with filming, a used 1st gen GoPro offers 90% of the quality for a fraction of the cost. Of course, if 1080p or even 4k, audio-in or WiFi are important features, this might be a different story.

I recently posted this video, with the Hero 3+ Black facing forward and the Hero HD (1st gen) to the rear: https://youtu.be/TGhq1CjgpxA If you look close, the Hero HD gets a little bit soft towards the edges, but that's about it.

I am currently ferrying this 'Bad Bug' from Houston, TX to OH and it's new owner.

Holding short of 18R at MCO
Commuting in an airplane is fun
Doesn't really save you any time at those distances (1:15 drive on average, or 0.7 flight + 7 min drive to the airport and however long it takes to get the plane out of the hangar and do the quick preflight), but for only $20-30 more you get 1.5 of pure joy of flight (and talking to three approach atc's one of which might forget about you with all the heavy iron he's pushing, then tower, then ground, and clearance-ground-tower-two-to-three-approach-atc's on the way out)
Loving it

While I'm at it, might as well show off my employer provided parking spot
Technically I'm welcome to put the plane in the hangar, but that's a bit of a hassle - need to go past the hangar, then have the Signature pull the 'Van out, then push back into the hangar and the reverse is an even bigger pita.
For now this works out fine

Didn't fly too much over the winter so I'm working the bugs out. 5 or so hours in the past week. Snow is gone for the most part:)

If you can fly in and out of there, you can fly anywhere.
I landed there twice. The first time I circled for a couple min before I found the darn thing.

And when I landed, I am pretty sure the runway was the exact width of my mains.:wink2:
