Crazy taxiing accident

An emoji would’ve helped. I’m a pilot, so of course I took it literally.
I dont know why but sometimes I lose access to the bold, emoji, etc options. This is one of those times. But sometimes a good pilot should expect a trick question or bad clearance and need to analyze does that make sense? I've received vectors IFR to the wrong airport. Would one follow the magenta line into a black hole or the yellow line thru a gate with poles only 12' wide? ;)

Shirely you realize I am joking.

Even so… sad truth is they might get sued!! Goodyear might also, they enabled it… Geesh…

So, back on topic. A doc can ground him essentially. A flight instructor really can’t. If that doesn’t put faa aeromedical into perspective, I don’t know what would.

And given this, a doc wouldn’t likely ever know about it.. question 18 whatever doesn’t ever ask if you forgot about your wings!

EVEN WORSE… after my furlough I wasn’t allowed back on the property until I SWORE UNDER OATH I had not been involved in an act of air piracy IN THE PREVIOUS 3 YEARS! It was 4, whew, I’m good… FAA aeromedical, have you EVER drank and had a hangover?

If you EVER fail a checkride, everyone knows. This kid forgot he had wings on the aircraft, no one will ever know.

I don’t know the fix, but we’re headed to an extreme in the pendulum swing, where it moves the slowest… stand by for LOTS of fun.

... and I'd like know since we spent all that federal tax payer $s building a nice big fence then why are we leaving the gate open all day? ;_;

When I was in my late 20s I was home visiting, and riding in the passenger seat of the Jeep my mom was driving. No AC, so I had my arm out the window as we're on a bridge crossing the Ohio river. She's drifting close to the bridge edge, and it got to the point that I pulled my arm in and yelled "hey!"

She correct her path quickly, and said - exact words - "Oh! I forgot I was driving!" She would have been mid 40s then. She drove 30 more years after that, and to my knowldge never had an accident.

All that said, I can't imagine not remembering that you were flying an airplane.

Just for curiosity's sake, figured out where the accident occurred. I could see it being confusing to a noob...still, common sense should be a thing.

Right next to a state police HQ, how lucky

What could be confusing about "Follow the plane in front of you?"
You'd have to ask him that. I said I could see a scenario in which it would be confusing, not that it was confusing.

The kid is going to need a neurocog when the RFS gets done with him and it isn't going to be pretty.

Some folks - maybe especially males - who are in their teens have a heavier than normal dose of "stupid". There were things my son did back in the those days where I swear the neurons were so misfiring I was surprised he still knew how to walk upright, breath those his nose, and use a fork and knife when eating. He was an real "A" student, just hormonal stupidity.

Maybe some folk need more time to grow out of that. ????????

But did he ever hold his arms straight out to each side and try to walk thru an open door and wonder why he couldn't?

Not that specific, but yeah, lots of stupid. I would not have allowed him to take lessons or even ride a motorcycle. Just didn’t have the judgement back then. All great now.

The threads of a couple of recent incidents are crossing in my head, and I'm thinking....if the guy that tried to go through the gate used the same fuel management system as the guy that landed the twin on the roof, then he would've run out of fuel before hitting the gate, saving himself a lot of hassle.

And if the guy with the twin had just taxied around aimlessly, instead of trying to fly without enough gas he, too, would have been fine.

So...if you're going to make mistakes, make lots and lots of them, so you don't move the aircraft far enough to get yourself into much trouble.

I'll let myself out tonight...

It’s been a few minutes since I’ve been to that airport. Report says 17 hr student?

I looked up the N# and it seems like it’s based there. So this probably wasn’t a student doing towered airport operations for the first time. When I hear them on the radio they usually just want to get it over with and leave asap, and not get taxi to parking instructions.

I really wonder what the other pilot was thinking when he heard the instruction to follow his airplane and then watched the other guy go xc at 0’ AGL.
Ain't likely he noticed, even if a Cessna with rear window.

What do you call a guy who finished last in his class at medical school: Doctor.
What do you call a guy who finished last in his class at law school: Your honor.
One day when I was in court security, I asked my judge “what do you say to an attorney with an IQ of 50?” “Good morning, Your Honor!”

He didn’t speak to me for a week.

Shirely you realize I am joking.
At least four different pilots responded to this post and every single one let the joke fly (no pun intended) right over their head.

I knew you were joking and don’t call me Shirley.

1 in 6 student pilots is female. Are we jumping to conclusions referring to this one as "he" and "guy?"

:) I'm certain that the answer to that question is "no", because you haven't made any other posts in this thread at all.

If you were trying to ask if other people were making some sort of assumption, then I can't speak for anyone else, but I did not make any assumptions in my funny and completely appropriate comment. If the question was simply a shot, then I can't reply in a way that this forum would find either appropriate or funny, because I'd have to refer to others in a way that *I* would also find appropriate and funny, but the younger and more sensitive folks may not.

Hope that's all taken in the kindest possible way given the constraints above.

Wonder if he was one of those people who try to pull open a door marked “Push”. Not that I have done that……recently.

how do you even explain this to the insurance company, smh
I doubt that there would be a lot of explanation required unless other circumstances existed at the time, like
1. The policy expired the day before,
2. The owner renewed the policy this morning, and
3. The owner requested a hull value increase as well.

Don’t ask me how I know, but those three things combined with a claim set some things in motion pretty quickly. ;)

I suspect this image doesn't tell the full story. Was there a drive thru In-N-Out Burger across the street?
