Cost for Panel Work?

For less than your original quote ($33,690 to be precise) we could install a 10" Skyview HDX with engine monitor and ADS-B In, including connecting the navigator to it for HSI.This would include a full new metal panel, powder coated and engraved with all necessary placards. Also, no sales tax in Florida.

The fun continues - I asked for a quote from a very large Florida avionics shop located somewhere on the Gulf Cost....

Cost would have been around $20,000, except they want $6,000 or so for the powder coated metal replacement fronts. I didn't ask if they were intending to make it from titanium or platinum.

A shop near us in Southern California charged $9k+ for the lower panels in a Piper Lance.

Insanity….

It just makes our industry look atrocious.

I didn’t read the whole thread but check my posts and call the guys that did my panel.

I'm in Ontario, Canada and had a complete teardown rebuild: G500Txi, GFC500, GI275, GTN750Xi, GNC355, audio panel, GTX diversity transponder, lighting replacement. The hourly cost was roughly half and was done by a reputable small Garmin shop. Took ~300 hrs. Surprised the stateside is so expensive.

At this point I wonder if I could find a shop to just cut the right panel if I could figure out how to get the dimensions, and then have another shop power coat it. A&P would the install an EIS and place in existing hole on left panel. Would take my panel blank and install on right side.

The panel you are looking to cut is purely decorative and serves no structural purpose?

Well if it could be considered a "decorative furnishing of the cabin, cockpit, etc" under part 43 appendix A preventive maintenance, I would think that would open up a bunch of possibilities.

Have you considered a panel overlay? I used Nimbus Aviation down in FL when I was installing a G3X into my panel back in mid 2024. The cost was $750. This was for a Bonanza floating panel and included the overlay, attaching to my existing panel, powdercoating, and labeling. The only downside is they will not share the CAD files with you, so I'd recommend borrowing a friends scanner to get a copy in case you need to modify if in the future, then you can send the updated file to a company like Send Cut Send for future panel iterations.
