Anybody else trying to find a doctor who will do the Basic Med in your area. I live on Whidbey Island north of Seattle and can't find anyone who will do the basic med exam. Anybody got a name of a doctor who will do it North of Seattle.

You might want to make your title more descriptive to your location, as there are plenty of people using BasicMed who probably have no interest in reading someone else’s BasicMed issues, but might know of a doctor to use.

Also, AOPA has a list of physicians known to them to do BasicMed exams: https://www.aopa.org/advocacy/pilots/medical/basicmed/doctor-finder

Not in the same region as you, but I called 2 local AME's, both of which said no. The local EAA chapter has one they use though, I'm working to get my physical taken care of with him in the next week or two.

I'm south of Seattle, so I won't recommend my PCP who I have an appointment with next month for my second Basic Med physical. He did the first one 4 years ago, too. I had to push the issue a bit this time as the office people said he didn't do them, but I told them that he did one 4 years ago for me. I got a call back with suggested dates. Best of luck to you.

Thread drift. I just did my second, three years in. Figured, why worry about scheduling closer to expiration. I'm actually considering renewing my quiz component now too and just getting both done in the same 2-year schedule rather than the maximum 4/2.

I see two advantages. One is, since it's nothing special - we just include it in my annual preventive care checkup - easier to have one date to track. The other is, if I change PCP at some point to someone less "interested," I am always pushing regulatory expiration further out.

    Me too.

I do it as part of my annual physical (and the on-line thingie too). It's free and I'm there anyway. I bring my CMEC, Scout High-adventure, deployment physical forms and she does them routinely.

In my mind, it's kinda like doing an annual flight review. Pretty much never have to think about currency.

Same here. Saw my GP in Jan and he asked if I needed the BasicMed done too. Nope, still got a couple years left. I like Mark's idea...I think next Jan I'll start on the 2/2 plan, just in case.

I used the AOPA website search for FAA medical Doctors and Basic Med doctors...I found one in Harrisburg, PA who does both. I went basic med with him.

Good idea. I'll have to shift to that the end of 2024 as I'll come due in 2025 for my next Basic Med physical.
