I recently started noticing it, too... was wondering what it's all about.Just wondering:
Is "Ejection Handle Pulled" permanent?
Kinda like an Cirrus pull.....it requires a repack.
There's no way for members to tell. The old software made a distinction between banned (permanently) and suspended (temporarily). The new software calls what was previously called a suspension a "temporary ban". If you are the one being banned, you see a message when you try to access the site, which gives you the date the ban will be lifted. In the interest of transparency, we'll tell you that we have found a flaw in our notification system. The system we use for warning people posts a private conversation to the person being warned, with a reason for the warning/ban. However, if the warning results in a ban, they can't read the private conversation until they are able to access the site again. We thought it went out as an email, but it doesn't. Going forward, we are going to be trying an alternate system.Just wondering:

My hockey league website has a "Suspensions" tab that lists name, penalty, and number of games to be served. That would be fun here!

You should have told us about it. We didn't realize it until yesterday.Heck, I could have told you about that glitch. I thought it was rather dumb to be sent a message that I couldn't read regarding why I couldn't read it.
A very touchy subject to be sure as we are not allowed to speak of those who have been banned.
I was a moderator on another aviation forum, and after banning one member for personal attacks I got severely criticized. I had to pull in my horns a bit after that.
One member here likes to push the limits of the envelope but his posts are entertaining and funny to most of us. Can't say that some of the mods have the same sense of humor. What is humorous to one may be offensive to the other. Snowflakes need to accept reality and learn to get along.
Suspension justified? That's in the opinion of the board members. Others may, with reasonable doubt, disagree with their decisions but have no recourse.
That said, if there is retaliation for my comment I will exit this forum posthaste.
My opinion for what it's worth.
BTW, not defending anyone in particular just making observations.

Don't take this personally, but . . .To be honest I really didn't think you would want or appreciate my input. Plus I figured those who run the site know how it operates.

I don't care what you guys say.....I like Ted.
No need to create a different user ID to read this forum. You can do that without logging in. However, if you go back to your old habits posting under a new user ID and we catch you, both IDs will be permanently banned. There have been a few in the past. And we know that there are some who lurk under their new ID. But it seems that our "problem posters" enjoy their identity as bad boys (or girls), so it would be a pointless to create a persona that others don't recognize. And what stops the banned person creating a diff userid and logging back in? I have no intentions of getting banned, but just keeping my options open

That reminds me of when I owned a veterinary clinic. One time I was on the computer raising some prices. I was editing the computer generated price list, and made a typo. I was trying to change a nail trim from $12.13 to $12.00 but I fumble fingered it to $21. A few days later, I heard a ruckus in the lobby so I went to investigate and a client was raising holy heck because he had been paying $11.50 and now it went to $21. I told him that was a mistake and it was $12. He was still ****ed we raised the price, even after I waived the charge completely, but not as ****ed. Later I asked the receptionist if this hadn't come up before and she said "oh yeah, everyone is ****ed. Some people say they will never come back". I asked her why she hadn't told me and she said that since I was the owner she figured I knew what I was doing and I must have wanted to make it $21. I wanted to suspend her, but I realized it was my mistake. But I still hold it against her for not telling me. She knew that her job was customer service, and I always told her part of her job was to look out for the customer.
Of course, I realize the analogy doesn't apply here, but the hair on the back of my neck still stands up when I hear someone say "I figured you knew".
We tested a number of thing, including banning, in beta. But at that time, we didn't test if we could receive emails of private conversations while banned. Also, email notifications of private conversations are turned on by default, but they can be user selected off. This is what we originally thought was happening until we checked with a test account.Plus I figured those who run the site know how it operates.
Thanks. So at least I know not to jump to conclusions when I see that notation. There's no way for members to tell....
