I would have thought the groundspeed would fluctuate more than that when flying through the middle of the storm.
No chance there’s a timing issue with FlightAware? Maybe didn’t fly right through it after all?
Actually, flying through the hurricane would be much safer than flying through an ordinary thunderstorm. Not safe, but safer. Some people do it for a living. None have been lost.

Isn’t the metar in Zulu time; and FA in local time? So the metar is 3 hrs prior to landing.
There is no hurricane - the whole thing is just a conspiracy between the Liberals, Deep State, China, and the Weather Channel to raise funds for the FEMA death camps and to provide cover for disappearance of political prisoners taken under the REX 84 plan.
I dont think he was going through a hurricane. This was someone who saw a window to get out through the dry sector of a cyclone. Probably didnt hit more than rain and moderate turbulence along the way. Most of the convective activity was north of his track by the time he left.
For a minute there I thought this thread was about me.
