I would have thought the groundspeed would fluctuate more than that when flying through the middle of the storm.

I found it on FlightAware. Groundspeed varied about 30 knots, between 170 and 200.

No chance there’s a timing issue with FlightAware? Maybe didn’t fly right through it after all?

The flight was today at 12:40. And I'm pretty sure the hurricane was there today about that time. :)

Isn’t the metar in Zulu time; and FA in local time? So the metar is 3 hrs prior to landing.

There were only a few RED cells to the NE and the wind was starting to abate. How bad could it be? (sic)

Actually, flying through the hurricane would be much safer than flying through an ordinary thunderstorm. Not safe, but safer. Some people do it for a living. None have been lost.

Yea, in a purpose built airframe. You don't see their G-IV flying through it.....it might flame out!

Ugh, no it wouldn’t bud.

Both of those weather phenomena are equally harmful to GA aircraft.

There is no hurricane - the whole thing is just a conspiracy between the Liberals, Deep State, China, and the Weather Channel to raise funds for the FEMA death camps and to provide cover for disappearance of political prisoners taken under the REX 84 plan.

No timing issue. It happened. The link above was the only flight in or out of KFAY yesterday. This Baron is in the hangar across from by CFI.

I dont think he was going through a hurricane. This was someone who saw a window to get out through the dry sector of a cyclone. Probably didnt hit more than rain and moderate turbulence along the way. Most of the convective activity was north of his track by the time he left.

Still, it would have been a rough ride.

We had a dude (Marine Hornet pilot) who rented one of the local 172s and flew about that close to one of the hurricanes last year.

Airplane made it back minus about 30% of the paint on the wings.
