Angle, or Vx/Vy on takeoff?

All the spam cans seem to have published Vx and Vy values.
Call me an old romantic, but to me airplanes--all airplanes--are more than just machines. Each has a unique soul and a personality. And each is capable of conjuring magic. For that, I regard them with respect and reverence, and deep appreciation. Meanwhile, thousands of rusting Spam cans fill the dumpsters and landfills of Hawaii...maybe you're due for an island vacation.
I was more concerned with OP's reflection that original CFI was not inclined to let OP touch the controls much - too much "demo'ing" -
Totally agree. While we only know one side of the story, any CFI who employs such an instructional technique should be blocked, reported, and cancelled. Or at least flogged.

Of course aero gets dumbed down - just as medicine and other subjects have to be dumbed down for general consumption. Done any small perturbation calculations lately anyone?

Anyhow, the airplane already knows how to fly, your job as a pilot is to make subtle inputs to help it fly how and to where you want.

Yes. 90% of what is in this thread is completely inappropriate for a <10 hour PPL student.

A PPL student needs to know

1) "For takeoff, climb at Vy until reaching minimum turns (safe maneuvering) altitude".

2) "For short-field takeoff, climb at Vx until reaching 50 ft, then climb at Vy until reaching minimum turns (safe maneuvering) altitude".

Everything else is outside of the PPL ACS.
