12 Dead in Skydiving Plane Crash, Kansas City, 6/14/2026

I think that’s a wind blade… advertising the drop zone. It’s about half way to the departure runway…

Are we being instructed to look at that large vertical piece of something above the picnic table... appears to be airborne? Did it just fly by the scene of the crash?
That looks like one of those feather flags.

Look carefully in the background… a whole new perspective… oooph…

This is a screenshot capture from a video that local news aired apparently. I believe that’s looking due east…

I'm not savvy enough to get the implication. Are you suggesting they might have taken off with a tailwind, or that the wind was strong enough to cause a problem for the aircraft?

Nothing obvious don’t bode well…

Although slow left turn to a crash could be pilot incapacitation.

The report said (quoting from memory), “…multiple GoPro cameras were recovered…”

CVR recordings aren’t released, how does NTSB handle GoPro video?

Do they have the right to the video?

Do they have the right to the video?
I don’t know. I remember a few years ago they recovered an iPhone and found a bunch of flash photos, on a night flight, where the pilot (C172?) likely lost SA after being blinded.

So they might be able to get info from the videos even without ownership.

Nothing obvious. And not fuel exhaustion or contamination.
Well it isn't the Final so we won't know for sure but it certainly appears the plane did not crash in Kansas City.

Until it was decommissioned at the last cycle, BUM had one of the few DME arcs in a reasonable distance from KC. Lots of IR students got to know it well.

Feels like some sort of control issue. Runaway trim, jammed aileron, control cable discontinuity, etc.

You can often get witness videos in the docket.

Or maybe the 30 extra gallons in one tank was meant to balance a wing-heavy condition but got put in the wrong side making the imbalance worse?

"...15 gallons of Jet A fuel were added to the left-wing fuel tank, and 45 gallons of Jet A fuel were added to the right-wing fuel tank."

I would think they could get access. I'll say "court order" but you'd need an Attorney or LEO to really tell you want the process is.

And ans you indicated, they would not own the videos. So if the family/estate wanted to release them, the FAA/NTSB would have no say in the matter.

ICYMI, from the prelim:

Multiple damaged GoPro cameras (of various models) were recovered from the accident site
and were transported to the NTSB Vehicle Recorders Laboratory.
