    Anyone used GATTS recently?

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! I’m going to send you a PM if you don’t mind.

    Anyone used GATTS recently?

I started instrument training two years ago. I got 20 hrs into it, but had to stop due to a crazy work/life schedule. My schedule is still just as hectic now, but I want to finish my training and move on. I’m considering using Gatts to get it done. I don’t have my own airplane to use, so I’d be...

    Another Basic Med Question....

I’m a private pilot and I was pursuing my instrument rating when I took a break to knock out the written test. My “break” turned into a year absence. During that time, my third class medical lapsed. I had LASIK a few years ago and I really don’t feel like jumping through the hoops needed because...

My Attempt at a $115 ADS-B Receiver Build for Foreflight

As someone looking to start this project, is there an updated materials purchase list? I read through all 22 pages of this topic and it looks like things have evolved since the original parts list. I just want to make sure I'm buying the latest and greatest to make the project easy. Thanks!

Lightspeed Zulu 2 won't turn on

Recently my headset won't turn on. I plug it in and push the power button and a red light comes on. I have changed the batteries a few times now, so I know it's not that. I've searched the web and can't find anything about it. Any ideas? I believe their technical service is closed now for the...

    Financing for buying into partnership

I'm looking at buying into a 182. The owner of the airplane has been in a partnership before, but the previous partner moved on. It would be a 50/50 partnership, so I'm needing 50% of the planes value to buy in. It's an older 182, but I'm guessing the value will be somewhere in the $50K-$60K...

172 or 182 for IFR training?

The primary mission of this plane would be to work on my instrument and commercial ratings. In addition to that, I'd be interested in taking trips to the Reno/Tahoe area, which I think would require the extra HP of the 182. I have family in Washington and Idaho and I'd love to do some...

172 or 182 for IFR training?

It will definitely be a dual purpose airplane for me. For that reason, I am leaning towards a 182. Aggiemike, I call Northern California my home.... About an hour north of San Francisco in wine country.

172 or 182 for IFR training?

Looking at buying a plane for IFR training as well as other missions. I'm wondering if there are advantages or disadvantages of either plane? I like the greater useful load of the 182 for hauling more people and more fuel. However, I do like the simplicity of the 172. In addition to IFR...

    Cherokee 180

    Good to hear. Thank you!

    Cherokee 180

Looking at an older Cherokee 180 for sale. It is a 12 volt system with fuses.... Should this be a deal breaker? How difficult and expensive is it to have the system changed to circuit breakers? Overall, it is a very clean airplane. But, I'm being told that the fuses are not fun to deal with. Any...

Thoughts on straight tail Cessna 172

I came across a 1957 Cessna 172 for sale locally. It is a partnership of three and one partner is looking to get out. She says that one partner hasn't flown in years and the other is very infrequent. Here are some details about the plane: TT- 2533 SMOH- 362 180 Conversion with constant speed...

Owning your own airplane for flight training?

Also in the market for owning a plane for my instrument rating. I just finished my private in a Tomahawk, but cannot do instrument training in it currently. The other rental options is an Arrow at $125/hr and the CFII at $65/hr. I'm thinking a 172 with GPS and my father who is an A&P might be...

Sacrifices made to afford flight training?

CBP does have quite an aviation program. I'm definitely looking into it, along with USFS, Fish & Wildlife Service, also at the state level, and possibly even the Alaska State Troopers. I just finished my PPL in a Tomahawk, and may move up to an Arrow for the IR. Definitely nothing too fancy!

Sacrifices made to afford flight training?

Thanks for the responses. I do love my truck, as it is another hobby of mine..... But selling it to fund flying will not be a problem. I've looked at different agencies within the state and it looks like only state agencies have a fixed wing aviation program. Most counties have a helicopter...

Sacrifices made to afford flight training?

It's no secret that flight training is expensive.... I have just recently received my private pilot ticket and am anxious to keep going. I currently work in the law enforcement field and I love the career--however, I would love it even more if I could combine it with aviation. I've looked at...

"High to low, look out below!"

Thanks for all the replies. It is now starting to make sense to me. I'm not sure why I couldn't understand it..... I seem to be overthinking the whole concept. Your descriptions really helped though, thank you!

"High to low, look out below!"

Is there a simple way of understanding these altimeter errors? I'm seeing "low to high, clear the sky" and "high to low, look out below." I'm really overthinking these concepts, and I'm wondering if anybody has a simplified way of understanding it. Thanks!

Vision Question for Third Class Cert

Thanks for the info guys. I will return to the eye doctor, get evaluated again, and have him fill out the appropriate forms. I'm ready to solo, and it's a bummer this eye is holding me back!
