Damn Cat

I think in the morning I'll take the cat to the local shelter (it's a no kill) and turn the cat over.
They will know who to call, the cat has a colar then the neighbor will be required to bail the cat out, plus a fine. $$$$$ maybe they will get the idea.
That would be my preferred solution. As easy it is to get rid of the pest, some states might have made it illegal. (not sure where you live)
So if the owner is penalized monetarily for the cat running loose, it should help to change his/her behavior. Especially if you have a leash law that was broken and the Sheriff can impose an extra fine (increasing with frequency maybe).
Don't forget to drop the cat off anonymously.

A little Cajun pepper sprinkled around, or make up a spray by mixing it with water and spray it around. Won't hurt plants or cat, permanently anyway. Most just get a whiff and take off.

It'll learn right quick it 's not welcome.

Kitty Cat gone bye bye.

Rubber snakes. Cats hate them

OK, cats are not geese, and on geese the rubber snake trick was a failure.

I owned property on a lake, and I had an area at the shoreline that was level. Sod installed by the former owner. the Canada Geese loved to come ashore and eat the grass on the sod. And you know what geese leave behind. It made this nice area very unpleasant for sunbathing or relaxing on the shoreline.

I tried the rubber snakes. The geese came ashore, looked at the snakes, and said to themselves: Oh look! Rubber Snakes! and continued to eat (and poop) to their heart's delight.

What did work: I made a flimsy fence with some tomato sticks and string. The adult geese would have to fly over it, whereas the goslings could climb right through. The mother Geese could not stand being on the wrong side of the fence should the local dog show up, told the kids that this area was off limits. That was it. The geese remembered this the next year and left the area alone even with no fence. This memory lasted for several generations of geese.

It was the goose equivalent of the no fly zone at Disney World. Nobody knows why it is there, but they know it is there and they keep out!

trap re-set ---- next cat.
the local animal control nuters the cats and releases them if they are feral cats, but owned pets, they will notify the owners they are in violation of the laws of the city and levy a fine if they want the animal back. If the owner doesn't want the animal back, and refuses to pay, the fine will be attached to their county land tax, and the animal will be placed up for adoption.

The Oak Harbor marina has a flock of about 100 Canadian geese that live on the marina, they do a great job of keeping the homeless transient people from living there.
we like that.:)

Cats on leashes. heehee

1. Take the cat to it's owner.
2. Ask which Realtor they used to buy their house.
3. Hire said Realtor
here it comes....
4. Include "Cat friendly neighborhood" in your MLS listing
Or, neighbors call back said realtor and place ad being sure to include 'Curmudgeon friendly neighborhood' in their MLS listing.

OP, you must be a joy to live next to. This sounds like a Wapner episode waiting to happen.

yup....give em a lil something to wet their whistle. :D

If that liquid is what I think it is that would be subjecting an animal to a horrible death. Shooting it be more humane.

My Dad was born in the time of the horse and buggy, and lived to see a man on the moon. He once told me, animals are pure in God's eye, and you will be judged by how you treat them.

Occasionally, spray "pet no" around the outside of the window frame. Cats won't go near it.

Smart idea!

nope the animal control will come pick up free.

Not so smart idea

Be careful who you decide to wage war with, especially neighbors, sometimes you end up picking a fight with the wrong person.

the pet owner never knows who turned their pet in.
they can suspect, but who cares

we will see what happens.

The burden of proof for "neighborhood justice" is not quite the same as a court of law Tom.

For example, I know folks at my local shelter, (or rather a person), you bet I'd know if and who brought one of my pets in.

And even if they can't prove it was you, if they know it was you, they might not be looking to try the matter in a court of law lets say, they are your neighbor....mman that's a bad idea!

There are lots of things which could occur on your property that you might not be able to prove was them ether, "who cares" right...

People are funny with their pets, and staying in the good graces of people who live and sleep next to where you live and sleep is worth WAAAY more than a few cat turds.

If it were me, I'd opt for some pet-away spray or securing my greenhouse, before I likley started war with my neighbor.

They'll know. Don't kid yourself.

Question is, will they care? Probably not.

Sure, neighbor could be a dick about having to pick up his kitty at the shelter. If he decides to act on it, next time kitty goes to the shelter 3 towns over.

Are your solarium plants growing better with cat poo? Reminds me of Matt Damon in The Martian. :):)

Intentional ethylene glycol (antifreeze) poisoning, besides being disgracefully reprehensible on a moral level, has as a punishment available to the judge in many states, a state jail felony.
If you have ever watched an animal die from this or lost your own pet to it, you would not entertain the topic, even as humor.

Stray or loose animals cause all sorts of mayhem, but society needs to learn better ways to deal with the problem.

There is about 4 or 5 of us in the hood that trap cats and have the ferals neutered. so they'd have a few of us to choose from. the owner of the cat is not my next door neighbor, they're across the street and a few doors down.

ya.....a 22 shell is much more effective.
Again,,, I wouldn't kill any cat for doing what comes natural, specially a little girls pet. but she can learn to be responsible .

My response to my neighbor when / if they challenge will simply be " comply, you've been told several times. "

Snip off the collar and drop the beast at animal control.

Cat might be microchipped.

Ad if you do that, best hope that the cat's owner doesn't believe in the Triple-S Rule.

I will admit, many years ago, I confiscated a neighbors live trap, with my cat in it. Is it really fair to lure a cat into a cage with tuna? Neighbor was ****ed, that must have been an expensive cage. My brother-in-law uses it to relocate raccoons now.

My Lab killed a neighbor's cat; critter made it over the fence, partially disembowled, died in my driveway in a pool of blood and gore. Another went more cleanly, neck broken. The dog doesn't draw a distinction between rabbits, squirrels, ground hogs, etc. If you don't want a big dog, yeah, trap it and dump the beast at the shelter, or call animal control. Your neighbor is a cretin.

I wouldn't cut it off if I didn't believe that the cat is chipped. But you can't tell animal control that its a feral if it has a collar.
