The link just seemed to disappear, how unfortunate.
I haven't said that it will be eliminated. I said it'll be down. The software is so outdated that it won't run on the new server. I took the link down because it wasn't working.
OpenFire 4.0.0 was just released.
(Hahaha ducking... We are trying to fully eradicate that POS from our company, the sooner the better. Version 4 of a turd is still a turd.)

It's easy enough to use #pilotsofamerica on https://webchat.freenode.net/. There's already #pilots there.
Jason,
What's different just out of curiosity?

I was in chat between Christmas and New Years...that is not quite some time. Thanks for killing a POA tradition.
Now no chat! Now that is unfortunate!

The website management should poll the users to determine if the chat room should have been eliminated. Jason W (whoever you are), this is no way to manage the website! A real disappointment.

Ubuntu 14.04 instead of Centos 5. Nginx instead of Apache. Some of the custom integrations that were written broke when we moved to the new server.
I got lost after Ubuntu. Will Google.

Edited to add: Ok, understand now. Beyond my need to know.

So you're about as interested as the folks who sat through our "post-mortem" meeting about a server that self-destructed yesterday during an upgrade when the insertion of a kernel model made by a third party vendor into the running kernel for backups, kernel paniced the machine because of a mismatched set of C libraries to kernel, and triggered a 13 hour ordeal to rebuild the entire system from the ground up?
The best part was talking to a guy in India for a half hour waiting for him run a single command line (tar up /etc on the old machine and place it in /tmp with wide open permissions so we can grab a copy of it) about how he wanted to know if I was a vegetarian and that if I wasn't that I should eat "sea crab soup" for my cold? He made sure to tell me he was, "very good at Linux!"
Great chief. Is the file done yet? It's 1AM. I'd like to finish this up and go home sometime before the sun comes up. Thanks.
But slack is filtered at work!
Get your IT to start using it. Solved.
(That or we need to teach you the finer points of SSH or SSL VPN tunnels. Are they doing man in the middle decryption of port 443? Most aren't.)

I could never get chat to work anyway, even when it was supposedly working - Google Chrome user.
