Will commercial pilots be provided some sort of eye protection?

You guys are going to be up above the clouds.

Would be very tempting to stare at the flaming doughnut instead of the blue doughnut which you should be fixated on.

Are you guys going to be given eye protection or there like internal memos flying around about taking extra precaution, etc today?

Not sure but I bet it will be odd for a lot of airports having to turn on runway lights in the middle of the afternoon on a clear day...

How often does one stare at the sun when outside? About never. Just treat the eclipse the same way, no worries.

We actually got a memo last week about not staring at the solar eclipse because it can cause eye damage.
Did that come before or after the "Don't forget to breathe" memo?

We actually had an email with pilots questioning whether they needed to bring NVGs. Yeah, about 5 minutes of darkness and it wasn't even really dark enough for NVGs. Ridiculous.

We were told not to make any special announcements or alter our flight plan. The insurance risk is "too huge"...
