Widest Runway You Have Landed On

KAUS, 12,300 x 150 after they converted it from Bergstrom AFB. I did all my PP flight training out of there, would practice landing INSIDE the center stripe (was about as wide as the c150 landing gear). We'd turn base inside the numbers and land between two of the center taxiways (Tango and Uniform IIRC).

150 ft wide.
In order of first occurance:
KXMR Runway 13 10000 x 200 ft. (low pass)
KTUS Runway 29R 10996 x 150 ft.
KLAS Runway ? x 150 ft.
KSWF Runway 27 11817 x 150 ft. (first solo)
PHNL Runway 4L 9000 x 150 ft.

Outside of undefined Aerodrome type landings and I guess I could claim Lake Mojave for a few miles wide, My homefield LGB had the widest at 200' and was second longest to Ontario; it was over 11,000 back then IIRC. We used to do multiple take offs and landings on a pass and flip back and forth through the different patterns when it was slow.

200'. I was a 15 year old CAP cadet in the back seat. I swear the pilot accidentally flared 10' above the runway, because that was the hardest landing I've ever experience by a factor of 3 or 4, and I have 45 hours as a student. *flare* *DROP* ***BOOM***.

KPNE at 150' when I was PIC and KSAW as a right seater and lord knows what 200' it was huge.

I'm waiting for the first person to chime in with a sea plane on the Pacific.

How about Edwards AFB dry lake bed? The little dry lake bed. The Shuttles landed on the big dry lake bed. Even the little one was humongous!

And then there's KDEN (12000x200) but only T&G. It's a $100 tag if you
come to a stop.

Mine so far is my home airport KISP runway 6/24. It's just over 7,000 feet x 150 wide. I may be flying to Stewart Airport in the next few months. It has an almost 12,000 foot runway x 150 feet. I'm going to look pretty small in the 172 I rent!

I got so used to flying at my home airport (75' wide) that when I did a rental checkout at another airport with a wider, 150', rwy I had an interesting experience. I was getting checked out in a different type of plane that I was used to, and got all proud of myself at how well I did on the landing. Then the CFI said, "Next time around, land on the centerline." I had used peripheral vision, or whatever, and landed exactly the in the middle of the left half of the rwy on what would have been centerline on the 75' rwy.

1800' wide x 1800' long. Converse Indiana, 1I8. At least it used to be, now just one 75' wide marked runway. "The 1962 AOPA Airport Directory described the runway configuration as "all way landings, 52 acre concrete slab" ". Actually an octagon, so 1800' only at its midpoint.

Buckingham airpark (pvt) was a former military base in ft myers. I haven't landed there but its funny to see from above! There is a lot of taxiway that borders it so and appears even wider. I have driven on it if that counts! They use it for autocross.

4046x400 and 2726x400

Once I landed on a runway 10,000 feet wide. But it was only 150' long!

(sorry, did someone already tell that joke?)

Lincoln, NE 18 - 36 is 13,000' x 200'.

I landed on the smaller 17-35 at KLNK, but I really appreciated the gazillion bright runway lights on big 18-36 when I was ten miles out, at night, and looking for the airport. You just can't miss something that big that's lit up.

Jesse and I missed it in the fog.

But the second time around we found it. ;)

The other runway thread got me to thinking about the longest or widest runway you have ever landed on.

Lincoln, NE 18 - 36 is 13,000' x 200'. The sight picture is amazing. As you are on final you have to be careful not to flare 2 miles out! When you do flare it is like you are sinking into a concrete abiss. I could literally land on the width of the runway.

Think about it, almost 2.5 miles long.

It was an emergency landing runway for the shuttle. :D
I've landed a C150 there (thought about taking off again and landing it several times but I didn't think the tower would appreciate it).

2nd longest/widest was KACY (10,000 x 150') in a C172. It looked like the other end stopped at the casinos.

Montgomery Field and Brown Field are both 150' wide. I'm uncomfortable on wide runways for some reason, but handle them OK. I'd rather have a narrow one.

The ones I really don't like are the uphill ones like at French Valley. I've never had any problems with any of them except I feel like I'm pushing my comfort level a tad.

Roswell is 13001 X150 but it used to be wider as well. Former B36 base. I've landed across the runway in the taylorcraft. Hagerstown Indiana is 4000 X 200 turf and seems wide. I landed on a private dirt strip out in NM that was a section in size, it had an omnidirectional landing option. That makes it a mile wide as well as long.
