I split a bicuspid in two recently and decided to replace it with an implant. So far I'm at the: tooth out, bone powder in, membrane on top and sewn shut stage. I get the stitches out in a couple of weeks and then have to wait three months until they can put the hardware for the crown in. Just wondering if any of you have experience in this area. Looks like I'll be paying about $3400 for this which would go a long way towards upgrading and flying my airplane but I figure I'll have my teeth longer than I'll have an airplane.

I got one in last year. Absolutely love it, and haven't had any problems at all. It might as well be just another tooth - it feels that real.

Definitely worth the $$$ IMO, especially since it's supposed to last a lifetime.

Add me to the list. Had two molars implanted at a frightful cost, but they work well and have given me no problems.

How do you know the toothbrush was invented in Alabama? If it was invented anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush!

Ditto no problems. Mine is one of the big front upper teeth. It actually feels stronger than the real tooth next to it. The real tooth will wobble slightly if I tug on it (normal, says the DDS). The implanted tooth is rock solid.

I need one. I have a root canal that is failing. I go in next week to have it looked it.

If they have to yank it I'm going to get one of the implants. I've heard nothing but positive things about them except for the price tag

I made the mistake of looking up a video on how they do the implants on YouTube. I really wish I hadn't. But yeah I'll go look one up the surgery is disgusting

    I have 3. No problems.
1 is bovine implant, 2 are titanium. Go titanium of they give you the option.

I have #3 and #16 replaced with implants. The only problem I had was not with the implant but the subsequent crown. Apparently my dentist didn't torque the thing down sufficiently. I had to have it redone, it took about 3 minutes.

I agree. I had one done years ago. The new tooth broke a few years later, got that replaced and no problems since.

Next time I will get one done I will use gold.....;)

Yep, went through the same thing some years ago. I've got a couple implants, one needed the bone build up. Don't ask where the "bone powder" came from. Is that price including the crown? If so, that's not bad.

I had a failed root canal that required molar extraction, cadaver bone gel and stitching. It's healed over, but I need an MRI since the bone behind the gum degraded and a 3mm hole formed into my sinus. It should be fully healed now and ready for the hardware, but it isn't going to be cheap. On the positive side, once done, you'll likely never have to worry about that tooth again.

I have about 1.75 implants right now, in about 90 minutes I will have two. When the first one was complete it felt a bit strange at first, the dentist said in few hours it will feel like my natural tooth did. He was right. The only difference between implants and natural teeth is in the flossing technique.

    I want a new tooth not a cow. ;)

I think the oral surgeon only gave me the titanium option. He didn't mention anything else.

I have one. The thing you need to research and be cognizant about is how the gum line will interface with the implant crown. Mine works. It doesn't work as well as I want, but it works.

    I'd still do it though.

I read an article bout a guy about 45 that genetically just has bad teeth. He got quotes from several USA based implant providers but the cost was insane. He ended up going Mexico and got a whole mouthfull of implants for about $15k all included. Said when he arrived the outside of the building looked like a rundown place but inside they had all the modern equipment you'd expect to see in the USA.

Yeah, been in one of those in Cabo (GF stepped on an urchin snorkling). They are called boutique medicine clinics. It is a big thing down there and you get to recover on the beach.
