I don't think you get the point. We are not the US government, so we are not required to grant anyone "freedom of speech". ;)

Note: This is a pet peeve of mine. The First Amendment only applies to the government, not your employer, clubs you might belong to, POA, etc., unless they are acting on behalf of the government.

I did it for several years. Sometimes made it in only 3 legs, sometimes it was much worse.

Sigh. Maybe it's my old age, but we were saying that since about the time Brian Austin left, or about a year or 18 months after this board started. And it's not just this organization, in college (*cough* years ago) the student radio station had a saying "it was better the year before you got here". Pretty common, methinks.

A number of folks got turned off by others, a toxic mix, so to speak. Some wanted more moderation, some wanted less. Brian (with an i), Chuck ("the founder"), KP, Dee, a bunch of others that most folks now on the board wouldn't know. From my perspective, everyone has something to contribute, but some manage to annoy others in the process. A couple won't come back because Spin is gone.

Such is life. Now for the real question: Where is Lady Malibu? :D

Real Alaska has people that will spit chewing tobacco on the floor and leave used tampons and dirty diapers in your seat back pockets.

I'm fine with the more "western" feel of Southeast alaska, even if it isn't real alaska lol

Speaking of he who must not be named, I was tooling along I-70 near St Louis at 80 mph when a Lexus sedan blew by me with the vanity plate in that name.

    I hope @Clark1961, @nauga, and @Stingray Don never leave.
Once, I was fortunate enough to meet Clark. Dude is damned funny! And I mean smart funny!
Nauga makes my wife laugh w/ all of his taglines. She lurks here and points his taglines out to me. What a creative idea. I'd like to meet him.
And stingray Don. Well what if he is really a stingray? That'd be different. I suspect he's not but who knows.

But its true. Eren does frequently read Nauga's signature lines to me and it would be totally weird of Stingray Don was a Sting ray.

And, I agree about the Nauga-isms. It has to take some serious effort to come up with so many engaging little comments. Sa- Lute!

Hopefully I'll get the chance to meet some of you in person at some point. Unfortunately, Dallas is a looooong way for my 172.

Sorry to disappoint but not much of a story to the stingray name. My other hobby is Corvettes and vintage Corvette restoration - hence the name Stingray Don. I'm not very active any longer as aviation takes up my available time and money. I still have 65 Stingray which I restored but it only gets out of the garage a few times year and I no longer take it to shows.

Well, it hasn't gotten locked yet and it's 4 pages in and has had MC participation so you know someone on the MC has been reading it.

I think that most organizations have a "golden age" in the eyes of their founders that is shortly in the time after it's founded. It then will change and evolve as time goes on and that is natural. Certainly for those of us who have been on PoA for 10+ years (I'm close enough to 10 years to count, I think) view the early days we were on has the heyday. Going to Gaston's, 6Y9, Wings every year, Tony's graduation party, lots of gettogethers. Many of my best friends and favorite people, folks who I consider family, are PoAers who I met and forged friendships with in that time period. I see some of the new members forging those same sorts of friendships here, so that tells me the place is still the same.

Our lives have evolved. Some people I talk to more than I used to, some I talk to less. Overall it's been a good 10 years here, I'm looking forward to the next 10.

Actually since becoming an MC member I just give my kids iPads logged into PoA and showed them how to ban people. I told them it was like using a hammer but it only destroyed souls rather than the kitchen wall.

Sorry to hear about EdFred! Hope he pulls through OK!

I haven't flown in some years - just got to be too costly - and so reading this site was kinda depressing. But the recent story about United's "Friendly Skys" got me wondering so I wandered over.

Liking the Xenforo software. Got another site I'm running that vBulletin just is getting out of date for (and I hate ver 5) - might look at this as a replacement.

I heard they made Ted a mod and fled...

On a more serious note, I pranged my lovely airplane in an incident that was entirely my own damn fault and since have not felt deserving to be in your august company.

That is correct. When I set up POA as a refuge when the old AOPA boards were down (yellow!), I made sure to set it up so that no one person, not even me, could just do whatever they wanted.

And the company around here is not that august - or any other month for that matter!
