What's with this?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a long time subscriber to BeechTalk and the share has not been for sale for about six years.
I actually have some items for sale that would be useful for non-Beechcraft owners as well. Hopefully, with another couple of posts, these will be available in the classified section.

...You mean like the post that starts with...
Figured this would be an interesting thread, guys. The rules are very simple...based the the word in the previous post, post up the first word that comes to mind.

Let's see how far this will take us. I'll start us off...
It has more than 53,000 responses. Now that's obviously a great benefit to the community.
Perhaps someone can explain to me why a post like this one is a greater benefit to the community than a situation where one community member sells something to another community member. Maybe there needs to be a 50 post requirement before one can post something that is just plain dumb....

Two thoughts here.1)You are assuming, incorrectly, that I'm not part of the community. 2) If everybody believed that this statement is true, there would be no news sites online, no news blogs and no news broadcasts on TV.
You're really going out of your way to prove your critics right. I mean you could have actually found a real thread to contribute to.

How many YEARS have you been on POA? Or maybe this one:

Next word that comes to mind...
I don't really think my critics care about right and wrong. But you already knew that, didn't you?
You'd be surprised how many foreign scammers try to post their garbage here. You'd also be surprised how many will make throw away posts on random threads to reach the posting pre-approval threshold. The higher classifieds 50 post threshold serves two purposes. It prevents the spammers who will generally give up well before 50 posts. It also forces people to get something of a reputation on the board before they can try to sell something. It forces people to interact a bit. Without the limit, you get a lot of random posters selling things, and a not insignificant number of those people will be scammers. Scammers are usually pretty lazy and won't bother to come back and post 50 times, even nonsense posts like you're doing. Anyone who does go to that trouble tends to be a real person, and leaves a trail users can look at to get an idea of the type of person they're dealing with.

Further, this is not intended to be a classifieds site. The classifieds are a service for members, and frankly don't get that much traffic. We aren't Craigslist. We are a discussion forum. If we opened up the classifieds, we would have to pay for that much more bandwidth and have to do that much more moderation.

Finally, I will gently point you to the terms of service....we have rules against trolling. This thread is cute and all, but you've reached your 50 post goal, and the constant trolling responses to everyone are wearing pretty thin.

Craigslist is still a thing?
It's still there, maybe not really a thing. Marketplace seems to have taken over, largely because you can look to see if you're dealing with a real person instead of a scammer/murderer....

Exactly. Even if you don't know anything about airplanes and were afraid of exposing your own ignorance, you could have just commented in one of those light-hearted threads. But hey, the good news is that when you go to sell something and a prospective buyer looks at your post history to judge whether you're a scammer or not, it will be genuine.

Scammer rhymes with hammer, does it not?
