Maybe it's in response to people who join only to sell stuff, and don't otherwise meaningfully interact. Trade-a-Plane exists for that.POA Requires a registered member to make 50 posts before submitting a classified. This seems rather ridiculous, IMHO, and encourages useless posts like this one
No, it just means that like most people, I don't have a great need for classifieds postings.Interesting you would comment on that nearly ten years after you joined.
So the only way to "meaningfully interact" is by posting?
Except that until today, that seems to be all that you've used this site for.No, it just means that like most people, I don't have a great need for classifieds postings.
Doubtful.Perhaps with all these posts there is some curiosity about the classified post that I wish to make.![]()
So are you suggesting that the 24 posts that I made prior to this thread do not constitute an interaction?Do you know what the word “interact” means?
Except that until today, that seems to be all that you've used this site for.
And how would you know that? Are you able to see my browsing history on this website or are you saying that reading other people's posts does not constitute a "use"?So are you suggesting that the 24 posts that I made prior to this thread do not constitute an interaction?
This is a free site that costs money to operate. Perhaps the owners believe that posting is how you can provide value to the community in exchange for the $$$ value that you're getting from those free classified ads.So the only way to "meaningfully interact" is by posting?
clearly they weren't meaningfulSo are you suggesting that the 24 posts that I made prior to this thread do not constitute an interaction?
So your goal is to benefit the community, not to derive any benefit for yourself. Is that correct? This is a free site that costs money to operate. Perhaps the owners believe that posting is how you can provide value to the community in exchange for the $$$ value that you're getting for those free classified ads.
Your reading the forum might benefit you, but it doesn't benefit the community.
....and you know this because? Are you speaking for yourself or for everyone? If you've read all 24 of my posts in the past 20 minutes I salute you.clearly they weren't meaningful
I think you misspelled WAH.
There is also the goal of keeping bots from swamping the place. That has been a HUGE problem for many website managers and they are pulling their hair out trying to figured out how to stop it.If the goal is to stop people from joining POA just to post maybe the goal post should be moved to a thousand posts.
Either that or the man with the ban hammer will have the same opinion that I do.In my 16 years and twenty zillion posts, I think I have sold a sum total of two items on POA. And the only reason I listed (and sold) them on POA is because I know (or at least have a pretty good idea) of the people I am dealing with. Otherwise it's Ebay or Craigslist. I wouldn't consider POA to be an otherwise lucrative sales channel.
But hey, you're getting there. I'll bet you will get your free unrestricted status prior to daybreak tomorrow.
And people who don't talk at all aren't listened to at all.In my experience people who talk a lot aren't listened to very often.
It's that "interaction" thing... a bidirectional discussion benefits both the user and the community. So your goal is to benefit the community, not to derive any benefit for yourself. Is that correct?
I strive for a healthy balance. So your goal is to benefit the community, not to derive any benefit for yourself. Is that correct?
Perhaps with all these posts there is some curiosity about the classified post that I wish to make.![]()
1. I have no illusions that any of the people posting here are potential buyers. It's all those non "interactive" readers and lurkers who I'm hoping will be interested. You know, it's those who don't "contribute to the community" like you do. We may never know. 2. So maybe the requirement should be 50 posts that are not "insulting and annoying." whatever that is.Not really. But I do find it amusing that you seem to think insulting and annoying your potential buyers is a good way to sell whatever it is.
Okay now I see the "value to the community".
