What did you do today?

Oh man, that takes me back. I had a pretty hot Ford 2300 running on Megasquirt 2 Extra on a V3.0 board I soldered together about 15 years ago.

Edit: Found a photo. I had a Volvo 16-valve cylinder head mounted on the Ford block, and a Holset turbo from a Cummins ISB. It was more science fair project than anything, sure taught me a lot.

Pulled an airplane that was not found to be in a condition for safe operation out of my hangar, and put an airplane found to be in a condition for safe operation back in my hangar a little later.

Nauga,
and a post-inspection ground run

You sir, I like. There are not enough people around who would even attempt something like this.

Yeah… bolting a Volvo head onto a Ford 2.3 would never occur to me.

For that matter, hot-rodding a Ford 2.3 would never occur to me.

Spent waaaay too much time at the liquor store trying to figure out which bottle had more in it

I finished harvest, unexpectedly.

I was hoping to finish tomorrow as we're filling bins, but the conveyor broke this morning. It would take me a couple days to fix it, so we just went to the elevator instead, and managed to knock out the whole 110 acres I had remaining today.

Feels good to be done. I think this might be the earliest I've been done; certainly the shortest harvest in my career. Less than a month from start to finish. Zero days off. I'm tired.

@eman1200 pour this man a drink.

Cursed the USPS for taking my hotly awaited AN fittings on a little southwest tour. They started in Idaho. By the time they get here (if indeed they do), they'll have more air miles than I do. :P

Struggling to change a 10" pit bike tire. The tire is so darn stiff, just put it in the oven to see if that helps. It's been a while since I change a tire and tube on a motorcycle, I certainly don't remember it being this hard.

Went from Southeast Ga to Panama City Beach and back to drop off MsGoFlyfor a few days of RnR with some friends. A 27kt crosswind was not my friend

Try changing a late model Goldwing rear tire, it’s one tough job.

I can imagine. Apparently the trick with this one is warm the whole thing up to 250 degrees and wear ove' gloves, it will pop right off. Good thing I don't care what the wheel looks like, cause it ruined the paint job with the tire spoons.

1. Went to the gym. I told the redhead a joke. Q, why was Batman's sidekick arrested? A. He was Robin. She laughed. And she will call me out on bad jokes. And does so frequently.
2. Went to the range in Yolo County, burned through 100 rounds of 9mm and 50 rounds of .45 ACP. My 1911 kept stove piping on me. The frendly gunsmith next to me suggested I didn't have enough lube on the barrel. I'm not sure that's the problem. Now the Sig Sauer, not a single hiccup in roughly 500 rounds since I've had it.
3. Went to Little Saigon to eat Vietnamese food. Ang bun, thit heo, cha gio, goi cuon. Oong ca fe da, knong duong, cam on. Or in other words, ate rice noodles with bbq pork and egg rolls, with spring rolls. And drank French filter coffee over ice but without sugar, thank you.
4. Cleaned the pistols.
5. It's Miller time. Figuratively, I don't often drink beer. Especially domestic ****waters. Well okay I admit I had some Michelob Ultras a few weeks ago.

Took the boat out for a shakedown cruise before my snowbird friends arrive for the season. Going to fly the weekend . Retired life is tuff.

I got a whole lot of people in trouble.

Short version: C-130 flies over and throws 11 dudes out the back. They land in the weeds, nowhere near their drop zone. They dust themselves off, pack up their chutes and just walk across the runway to their drop zone.

I call over the radio to the drop zone and tell them to have someone in authority call me in the tower. It took several minutes for them to decide and then someone calls me and says, “yeah, what do to want?” That triggered me. “What I want is for you to keep your (bleep bleep) parachutists off my bleeping runway!

I filed a controlled movement area violation on them and shut them down for the rest of the night. If that guy had been more humble on the phone instead of a jerk, things may have been different

I've landed on or walked across countless runways after being thrown from the back of a C130.

Runways hurt to land on, BTW. As I became more experienced, I learned to prioritize avoiding them.

I took the canopy cover off, folded and put it in the car trunk, cleaned the windows and wiped down the fuselage - all in preparation to do a bit of coastal flying this weekend. And, hopefully, have someone take some air-to-air pictures for me.

:yikes:

Did the guy on the phone ever figure out what was wrong with just crossing the runway.??
Nope. These guys think that they’re entitled to do what they want, when they want and wherever they want. They were even driving on the flight line without a license.

I once had to explain to a C-130 crew (I know..shocker) that they had to file a flight plan before they take the taxpayers aircraft for a flight.

Ever ask a plane to make a low pass to ensure the runway is clear?

We did a few flights without filing, but it was uncommon. Usually, we had the navigator file while the engineer did the preflight and we drank coffee. ;)

I'm chuckling at the notion someone will get in trouble for this. Having been at the scene of many military parachuting debacles, the only thing that will get blamed is the wind.

Well, they got shut down for 30 days and a major who was the head drop zone guy, got his arse handed to him the next day. So no, the wind wasn’t even mentioned

Fed the bees again. They took in 16 gallons of syrup yesterday.

Took the airplane up for a breakfast flight. Was wonderfull
